WWE superstar Natalya praised the key role of Vince McMahon in promoting women's wrestling in Saudi Arabia. The veteran wrestler revealed that McMahon "fought hard" for women to gain visibility in the country, which led to the celebration of the historic first women's match in the Middle Eastern nation.
In an interview with Ring the Belle, Natalya confessed that she herself asked the former executive president for the opportunity. "I told Vince, 'I really want to go. I want to be the first woman to wrestle in Saudi Arabia,'" she recalled. Her request was granted, as, according to Natalya, McMahon also "really wanted women to wrestle there and have more visibility."
The women's debut took place at Crown Jewel 2019, where Natalya and Lacey Evans had to wear promotional t-shirts over their gear to adhere to the local culture. Despite the initial restrictions, McMahon's insistence allowed women's wrestling to become a regular part of WWE shows, with the wrestlers now wearing specially designed outfits for the occasion.
For all this effort, Natalya maintains her deep gratitude towards McMahon. The wrestler concluded by quoting the moment: "&He had to fight. I will always be so grateful to Vince for that moment, because he fought for us to have more visibility in Saudi Arabia. Look at us now!"
