Recently, the president of All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan, assured that the company has had an "excellent" year despite WWE's moves to schedule events against them. Khan stated that they have known how to "adapt and move" to overcome this tough direct competition.
In an interview with Going Ringside with Scott Johnson, Tony Khan talked about WWE's growing strategy of scheduling events on the same day as AEW. A tactic that has intensified, aligning their biggest shows. "There will always be strong competition in this sport, the kind of competition that forces you to work very hard all 52 weeks of the year," explained Khan.
Tony emphasized that AEW has not only withstood the pressure but is thriving. He pointed out that they are achieving "strong ratings" and that the number of viewers for their weekly shows, Dynamite and Collision, is higher than last year, reversing the predictions of analysts who expected a drop in numbers.
WWE's most aggressive move was holding their first PLE event on ESPN, Wrestlepalooza, scheduled directly against AEW's All Out. In response, AEW decided to move their show to the afternoon. This schedule change was successful, as the event maintained a good number of purchases despite the aggressive competition.
