On October 7th, WWE will bring with it a fierce interpromotional competition between NXT and TNA. The announcement, which took place several days ago, quickly caught the attention of fans, whether out of nostalgia or the possibility of finally seeing a true brand war. However, not everyone has welcomed this special event with open arms.

The event originally called "Invasion," along with the date chosen by WWE, has sparked controversy in Israel. Journalist Jonathan Duschnitzky from the Israel Hayom media outlet harshly criticized the company for showing a total lack of sensitivity by using that theme on a day as significant for the country as October 7th.

For this reason, Ava and Santino Marella, general managers of NXT and TNA, respectively, opened tonight's show. Both announced that the event would not be an "invasion," but rather a platform to showcase the best talents from both brands, now calling it "Showdown." During the promo, the captains who will lead their respective brands in the special event were also confirmed.

On the NXT side, the chosen ones were champions Jacy Jayne and Ricky Saints. The surprise came on the TNA side, where Santino Marella decided not to trust his champion Trick Williams; instead, he appointed Mike Santana as the male captain and the newly crowned Knockouts World Champion, Kelani Jordan.
