In the episode of NXT on July 29, it closed with a segment that left all fans perplexed. In the final shot of the show, Tony D'Angelo was in a restaurant when an unknown person approached him and, with a close-up of a surprised D'Angelo's face, a fade to black ended the scene with a Hollywoodian character.

From that moment, fans began to speculate on what could be the meaning of that confusing segment starring a D'Angelo who seemed to have already closed a cycle in NXT. While many believed it could mean the death of the wrestler within NXT for his subsequent promotion to the main roster, others claimed that the segment served as a justification to keep the character off programming, perhaps due to an injury.

In the last few hours, we have been able to find out what was the reason that triggered an absence of the former North American champion that has already lasted more than two months. In the October 3 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, journalist Dave Meltzer announced that the reason for D'Angelo's disappearance from programming is because he requested it. "Regarding Tony D'Angelo's disappearance, it is not related to an injury, but he asked for some time off," he stated.

In his statement, Meltzer also emphasized the secrecy surrounding the wrestler's absence, making it practically impossible to assert with certainty what his next steps will be. Bryan Alvarez, another major insider in the industry, ventured to predict that after this break, the future of the "don" will involve the main roster.

D'Angelo has been in NXT for over four years, and after an extensive period of ups and downs, it seems that this could be the definitive bet the company will make with him. Many fans were already fantasizing about the idea of him joining Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman's faction, The Vision, while others were reluctant to this idea and argued that the wrestler can contribute little to the programming. Whatever the case, we will have to wait and see how this situation unfolds.
