Melo Don't Miz has officially come to an end. During the last episode of SmackDown, The Miz surprised everyone by attacking Carmelo Hayes just as he was challenging Sami Zayn for the United States Championship, making it clear that their partnership had definitively ended.

The betrayal occurred as Hayes was about to respond to Zayn's open challenge. The Miz attacked him from behind with his classic Skull Crushing Finale, allowing Aleister Black to appear and take his place in the match.

Minutes earlier, The Miz had confronted Hayes backstage, demanding explanations for not helping him in their tag team match the previous week. Melo replied that he felt Miz was in his way and preferred to end their relationship amicably, although the former WWE champion had other plans.

Tension had been building between them for weeks. While The Miz and Carmelo Hayes had worked together for much of the year, Hayes was hesitant to fully align himself with the veteran. While Miz pursued tag team gold, Hayes focused on the United States title, ultimately leading to the alliance's breakdown.

A month ago, in a qualifying match for Clash in Paris, Melo Don't Miz suffered their first setback against the Street Profits as a team. Last week on SmackDown, they were defeated again by Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, and this time the rupture was evident when Carmelo refused to help his partner break the pinfall.
