Ridge Holland underwent surgery yesterday to have an operation on his midfoot. The wrestler suffered a Lisfranc injury during a match against Moose in the latest television tapings of TNA Wrestling that took place last weekend. Now begins the recovery phase, perhaps the most challenging, but the British wrestler faces it with strength, as he explained in a recent video recorded from his hospital bed.
"So I'm here lying down, just taking my painkillers to get some hydrocodone, which helps alleviate the pain a bit. Oh man, it's always something strange," he began. "I was telling my wife that I must be able to endure all this because in the last seven years it's been a bit of a bumpy ride with the wrestling business. You know, just when I'm starting to gain momentum, something happens. The same thing again this time: TNA, a couple of good matches and then, well, this happens."
"But, once again, we heal, we recover, we move forward, and I'm really looking forward to coming back and getting in the best shape of my life. And I guess I'm using this, like all these injuries and all these ups and downs, I'm using them as lessons for my kids. I guess also for anyone who wants to take it into account: no matter what happens to you, really, there's always a way back if we believe. You don't even need to have a plan. Everyone wants to have a plan, but we're all improvising. I think you just have to want something and take the first step, and then you adapt and adjust to the situations, but always keep moving forward," he stated.
"A lot of support, many, many get well soon messages. So thank you for that and great, great medical service from the orthopedic team at Andrews here in Birmingham, Alabama. They work a lot with WWE, so they really are the best in their field. I want to thank Dr. Waldrop and his team for taking such good care of me."
"Now I just want to get home, see my kids and, yeah, I've had a couple of days off, relaxing a bit with the diet, which has actually been quite nice. So yeah, I'm not looking forward to this flight home, but it's necessary. I hope the pain decreases in the next few days. Talk to you soon," he concluded.
