In recent times, TNA Wrestling has worked with many talents without having them under contract. A policy that is already common in the company, but it is still curious considering that some of the talents currently part of the "invasion" storyline of TNA in NXT are in this situation.
This is the case of Cedric Alexander, whose contract may have expired. Despite having signed with the company last summer, it was a short-term agreement (about four months). Still, TNA hopes to be able to renew it, as explained by Fightful in their latest report.
"Fightful Select recently pointed out that several TNA talents are working without a contract with the company, including some who are part of the NXTNA crossover storyline. However, it was revealed that Cedric Alexander is officially signed with the company," the outlet wrote.
"But for how long? Not for much longer, it seems. Sources within TNA reached out after the contract news was published to confirm that, indeed, Cedric had signed an agreement, but that the contract expires around the date of Bound for Glory," Fightful wrote.
"For now, Cedric would be a free agent. It was noted that TNA hopes and trusts to be able to retain him. Several contracts in TNA also expire around Bound For Glory, and they are working to renew them. Short-term contracts are becoming much more common in TNA," the outlet wrote.
"Naturally, there are always rumors and speculations about a possible arrival of Cedric to AEW or to the Hurt Syndicate faction, which, reportedly, the members want him to join, but that has not happened yet and is not in the immediate plans," the report concluded.
Since his departure from WWE, Alexander has competed for various independent scene promotions, combining these appearances with his work in TNA Wrestling. Recently, we have seen him as part of the group that assaulted the Performance Center before NXT Showdown, the television special that will pit TNA against WWE's developmental brand.
