The future of Chris Jericho has been one of the most discussed topics in recent months after the wrestler himself hinted at his desire to return to WWE. Something that could happen at the beginning of 2026, since Jericho's current contract with All Elite Wrestling expires in December.
For now, Jericho remains away from the company's television programming while his future remains uncertain. Tony Khan has stated on several occasions that he would like to continue counting on the services of the former world champion, although it is unknown if both parties have discussed a possible renewal. Meanwhile, Jericho continues to play coy whenever asked about the topic.
"This is how I always think: 'What is your favorite moment of your career?' The current one, the one right now. If I didn't believe it was the best, then why am I doing it? You always want to say that your next match and your next show will be the best. That's how you should view things. We leave the space blank and we'll see what happens," Jericho said on Busted Open Radio while reminiscing about some of the best moments of his professional career.
When asked about what will happen next, Jericho simply replied: "We don't know, right? We'll just have to wait and see", leaving any possibility open and giving fans a comment to continue theorizing about his future.
Chris Jericho is one of the most veteran wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling and one of the key figures who were present and active in the early days of the company. In fact, Jericho became the first AEW World Champion, helping to promote the new brand internationally in its early months of existence.
Throughout these six years, "The Nine" has been part of numerous stories and rivalries as his record and repertoire of characters continued to grow. His last match took place at AEW Dynasty, where he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido.
Since then, he has been absent from the company's television programming, which currently has no creative plans for the wrestler. He, on the other hand, has taken the time to attend to his commitments outside of professional wrestling, such as his band Fozzy and his podcast.
