All Elite Wrestling held the television tapings for the AEW Collision episode that will air next Saturday. The show took place at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida, and featured an interesting lineup, including the debut of Kota Ibushi on the brand. However, the night did not end well for the Japanese star.
"The Golden Star" faced Josh Alexander in a one-on-one match. At one point in the match, Ibushi slipped from the top and fell to ringside, unfortunately twisting his leg upon landing on the ground. The referee counted to 10 to end the match, which resulted in Alexander winning by count out.
The medical team immediately rushed to the scene to remove Ibushi on a stretcher. According to Mike Johnson from PWInsider, the Japanese wrestler was taken to an ambulance and transported to the hospital. Tony Khan then decided to come out to confirm to the attending audience that Ibushi was injured. At the moment, there is no further news on the matter.
This is Ibushi's second injury in just two years. The Japanese wrestler injured both his ankles during his participation in NOAH The New Year 2024. Later on, he was diagnosed with a rupture of the right tibiofibular ligament and an injury to the complex of the lateral ligament of the right ankle. Ibushi underwent surgery in mid-January 2024, and since then began a long recovery process.
Last June, Ibushi returned to All Elite Wrestling's television programming to join Kenny Omega in their personal war against The Don Callis Family while signing a new contract with the company. Last night was his first match since Forbidden Door 2025, an event that took place on August 24th.
