Jacy Jayne, current NXT Women's Champion, suffered an apparent leg injury during a tag team match held this Thursday in Columbus, Ohio. Jayne was teaming with Fallon Henley to take on Sol Ruca and Zaria when the incident occurred.
According to reports, Jayne would have suffered a possible quadriceps injury halfway through the match, which forced her to tag out before its conclusion. The referee threw up the "X" signal with their arms, indicating a legitimate injury, and WWE's medical staff quickly rushed to the ring to assist her. After the match, Jayne was helped out of the ring by the medical team, causing concern among the attendees.
At the moment, WWE has not issued an official statement regarding the nature or severity of the injury, although an update is expected in the coming days. Jayne's potential absence would come at a critical time, with Halloween Havoc just around the corner and her championship on the line.
The recovery time for a quadriceps injury depends on the extent of the damage: a mild strain usually requires 2-4 weeks; a partial tear may need 6-10 weeks of rehabilitation; and a complete tear (often involving tendon damage) requires surgery and a recovery period of 4-6 months or more. In professional wrestlers, due to the demands of explosive movements and impacts, medical teams are usually cautious and delay the return until strength, mobility, and stability are regained, so the realistic range varies from 1 month to half a year, depending on the severity.
Jacy Jayne has been one of the standout figures in the yellow brand since she captured the NXT Women's title in May of this year by defeating Stephanie Vaquer on an episode of NXT TV. However, this is not the first time the wrestler has faced a physical setback, as she fractured her nose during another match in April 2024.
