TNA celebrates tonight a new edition of Bound for Glory and the main event features the defense of the TNA World Championship by NXT wrestler Trick Williams, against the home challenger, Mike Santana. Although the odds have been very close, a new and explosive report from Fightful Select has revealed who has been chosen by the company to win the match.
The leak stems from the growing tension between the TNA locker room and the influence of NXT within the company, especially because Williams holds the top prize. The general feeling backstage is that Santana's victory is a necessary move to "restore control" of the championship and limit the presence of external talents at the top of the card.
An anonymous talent was clear in expressing the locker room's sentiment: "While they expect Mike Santana to win tonight, if for some reason he doesn't, they will have 'serious problems' with the association with NXT." This statement is a strong indication that Santana will be crowned the new TNA World Champion in Lowell, Massachusetts, putting an end to Williams' era and NXT's influence on the title.
The anticipated title change would mark the end of Trick Williams' controversial reign, which already spans 141 days and has seen six successful defenses. If Mike manages to dethrone Williams, it would further solidify Santana as the new face of the promotion, closing out a year of incredible matches.
