A few days ago, Kota Ibushi suffered a femur fracture during his match against Josh Alexander at the AEW Collision tapings. The serious injury occurred when both wrestlers fell from the third rope to the outside of the ring. The incident resulted in such a severe injury that Ibushi himself acknowledged that the bone "pierced the muscle."

This weekend, the Japanese superstar underwent surgery and through Instagram, the former NJPW champion shared an update saying that the operation was successful. Ibushi also highlighted a gesture that deeply moved him from AEW President Tony Khan, who sent him a bouquet of flowers and a personal letter wishing him a speedy recovery.

However, the latest news about his return is discouraging: the Japanese wrestler confirmed through his social media that his recovery will take two years. Kota wrote: "My current condition. One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again."

Ibushi's case, like that of other talents with serious injuries, will be a long process. Nevertheless, the 43-year-old superstar remains optimistic and trusts in his body and condition. He assured that he has an "amazing DNA" that will allow him to recover a bit faster and return to the squared circle.
