The biggest handicap for most Japanese talents who land in WWE is, without a doubt, the language barrier. Being a superstar in this company implies not only having skills in the ring, but also being able to express oneself in front of the fans.
Every Japanese talent that arrives in WWE usually receives English classes. IYO SKY was no exception. Throughout these years, we have seen the wrestler most confident when speaking the language of Shakespeare. However, promos continue to be one of the aspects that concern "The Genius of Sky" the most, as she confessed to Chris Van Vliet in a recent interview.
"I went to English classes once I signed a contract with WWE, but only 30 minutes a week, or an hour a week, or twice a week, something like that. So it didn't help much, although it was better than nothing," SKY said.
"Promos make me nervous, even very short phrases make me very nervous, because even backstage, everything is recorded for television. That's why I'm always careful to speak correct English," she continued. "Now I'm pretty relaxed speaking English, sometimes even with broken English, and you'll understand me, but in front of the camera I have to memorize correct English."
IYO SKY can boast of being one of the Japanese talents who has achieved the most success in WWE. Since her arrival, "The Genius of Sky" has not stopped winning titles and achieving milestones, including her victory at WrestleMania 41, making her the only Japanese woman to win at WWE's grand event.
Currently, SKY is immersed in a storyline of friendship and betrayals along with Rhea Ripley and her former teammates from The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane. IYO joined forces with "Mami" to defeat her former friends at WWE Crown Jewel. However, it seems that the story between these four women is far from over.
