During the episode of SmackDown aired on USA Network and Netflix on October 17, Jacob Fatu was attacked backstage, a segment that confirmed what had been rumored hours earlier: the wrestler will be out of action for a while. Shortly after the show, journalist Cory Hays from BodySlam confirmed the details on social media, clarifying that the wrestler is not injured for reasons related to the ring, but is undergoing serious medical treatments.

The wrestler is undergoing a complex medical process that includes significant dental intervention and health treatments that will keep him out of action for several months, probably well into 2026, although it is speculated that he will not miss WrestleMania 42.

When a fan asked if Fatu was simply "fixing his teeth," Hays responded with a resounding "Yes," and later expanded his response explaining that "they are working on his entire mouth." In response to another fan's insistence on whether it was an aesthetic or health issue, Hays was even clearer: "for health reasons".

With this information, it is confirmed that Fatu's absence has nothing to do with creative decisions or internal punishments. The wrestler is focused on recovering his physical well-being, and WWE would have given its full support to the process.

This situation coincides with the recent promotion of NXT superstars to SmackDown. This week, Zaria and Sol Ruca faced Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, while Blake Monroe was spotted among the audience. In addition, Ilja Dragunov returned to action to become the new United States champion. WWE intends for these wrestlers, and others who are yet to come, to generate interest and fill in for the absences.
