All Elite Wrestling recently celebrated its sixth anniversary. During this time, the company has achieved great milestones, such as turning AEW Dynamite into the longest-running weekly prime time wrestling program in Turner Sports history, surpassing WCW Monday Nitro, and establishing one of the most enviable rosters in the business.
In addition to this, there is the international adventure, including visits to Australia and Mexico as part of their Grand Slam specials, which have been very successful. Of course, we must not forget their events at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, England, which have turned the European capital into a major stronghold for the company. So much so that Tony Khan wants to continue expanding the brand into new territories.
"We have built a lot. It has been six years of AEW and, once again, it feels like we started yesterday", said Khan in statements to amNY. "I am very interested in bringing AEW to more places in Europe. I think there are more opportunities there. We have had great shows in the UK, especially in London. We have broken records at Wembley Stadium, and we have also had great events in Cardiff, Wales. And I am very excited that this year we will bring AEW to Manchester for the first time. I think there are more international opportunities for AEW... I think international expansion is very appealing".
The company last visited London for the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door celebration last August. Tony Khan himself recently revealed that part of the upcoming Continental Classic tournament will take place on European soil, without specifying dates or specific venues. In any case, an event outside of the UK would already be a new milestone in the company's short history.
