DC Comics and All Elite Wrestling will join forces once again to promote the Batman, Superman, and company universe. On the occasion of the DC K.O. event, the almost centenary editorial will launch a series of initiatives that will culminate with the release of DC x AEW, a story that will bring together the Justice League with the best talent from AEW.
"DC and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) are partnering for an electrifying crossover that brings together two powerful universes in a new and bold narrative experience. This unprecedented collaboration will unite the Justice League and the best talent from AEW in a two-issue action-packed comic event, starting with a special preview edition available exclusively to fans at New York Comic Con.
DC and AEW will also co-promote DC K.O., the DC Comics event launching in October by acclaimed creators Scott Snyder and Javier Fernández, through AEW's linear broadcasts, digital platforms, and social media channels. The collaboration will culminate with DC Comics as the main sponsor of AEW's pay-per-view event, Full Gear, live from Newark, New Jersey."
"AEW has built a universe as rich and dramatic as any comic, where stories unfold through effort, passion, and unforgettable rivalries. Now, that universe jumps from the ring to the page in a two-part, 48-page comic saga written by Steve Orlando, illustrated by Travis Mercer, with covers by Lucas Meyer.
In this epic story, AEW's best - including Mercedes Moné, Will Ospreay, Darby Allin, Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, 'Hangman' Adam Page, 'Timeless' Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Orange Cassidy, and Kenny Omega - join legendary DC superheroes like Aquaman, Batman, Nightwing, Green Lanterns Guy Gardner and John Stewart, Hawkgirl, Zatanna, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn. Together, they must retrieve the Great Galactic Belt and prevent a cosmic catastrophe," wrote DC Comics in a press release.
Meanwhile, Kenny Omega has received a small tribute in the pages of the first Annual of Absolute Batman (the Batman series set in the new Absolute Universe of DC). The former AEW World Champion shared a tweet, showing panels in which Batman applies a One Winged Angel to a police officer. "I'm Batman," proudly wrote the AEW star.
