Gable Steveson, former WWE NXT superstar and Olympic medalist, could not have had a more impactful debut in the world of boxing. The American needed less than 15 seconds to knock out Billy Swanson during the event organized by Dirty Boxing this Thursday in Nashville, Tennessee.

The fight, which was broadcast live on YouTube, showcased a relentless Steveson from the very first second. A precise right hook was enough to end the confrontation and clearly demonstrate the power of the former wrestler, who is now looking to establish himself in combat sports.

Steveson, one of the great promises of amateur wrestling in recent years, signed with WWE in 2021 amid high expectations. However, his time in the company did not bring the expected success: he only had one televised match in NXT in 2023, which was met with negative criticism from fans. After leaving WWE in 2024, he tried his luck with the NFL's Buffalo Bills before briefly returning to collegiate wrestling.

In September of this year, the athlete expanded his experience in contact sports by debuting in MMA with a victory at Legacy Fighting Alliance. His venture into boxing is part of a new goal: to reach UFC.

In fact, Mick Maynard, a UFC executive, was present at the Dirty Boxing event. After his victory, Steveson took the opportunity to address him directly from the ring: "I think a special guest has come to see me, his name is Mick Maynard, from UFC. So, Mick, you've seen a little bit. I would love to show you much more. I hope you believe in me. Thank you for coming," declared the former wrestler with a smile.

This successful debut in MMA places Steveson in a new sports orbit. His case is reminiscent of other wrestlers who have successfully transitioned from amateur or professional wrestling to the octagon, and it will be interesting to see if he can replicate the transition to this sport.
