Tonight will begin the Last Time is Now tournament, whose winner will have the honor of being John Cena's last opponent before his retirement as a professional wrestler. Sixteen men from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT -and even other companies- will compete against each other with one goal in mind: to earn a direct pass to the main event of the WWE Saturday Night's Main Event show on December 13, where "The Greatest of All Time" will bring an end to one of the most successful careers in wrestling history.
For now, the company is revealing the tournament bracket little by little in order to keep expectations high and saving the biggest surprises for the last moment. Meanwhile, just hours before WWE Raw begins, the company has released a promotional video for the tournament, where two of its participants have shared their feelings before it starts.
"For me, personally, it would mean the world. It's a career-defining moment. Do you remember his first moment, right? When he appeared with Kurt Angle. How could you not remember his last? That's why there's a tournament to have that privilege," said Damian Priest.
"There's a reason why the company calls him the greatest of all time while he's still active. That's usually reserved for when you retire. So the fact that the company believes so much in him tells you how much this should mean to all of us. This is our WrestleMania, that's the moment. For anyone who receives that honor, it will be something huge," he added.
Priest will face Rusev in the first round of the tournament in an unprecedented match. This will be the first time the Puerto Rican and the Bulgarian face off in the ring. On the other hand, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus will square off in the second first-round match on this opening day of the tournament.
