In his last weeks as a professional wrestler, John Cena's altruistic feelings are on the surface. After an official tournament was set up with random names from different promotions to decide who would be his final opponent, yesterday on Raw, Cena himself confirmed that the edition of Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13, in addition to featuring his final match of his career, will have a crucial participation of NXT talents.
In a promo, the current WWE Intercontinental champion announced that the next Saturday night show, in addition to his last fight, will have a series of exhibition matches between talents from the main WWE roster and NXT, the developmental brand: "December 13 is about closing a chapter, but also about opening the way to what's coming. And that's what I want for this tour", commented the West Newbury native. In the last hours, we have learned that this initiative would have been led by himself.
According to Bryan Alvarez, from F4WOnline, it was John Cena who, after his visit to the WWE Performance Center, the training and recording location of NXT, decided to give the new generation members a chance to shine in a big show. "Having NXT wrestlers compete in SNME was John Cena's decision; he loved his time at the WWE Performance Center", clarified Alvarez.

Cena, who last night made history by becoming Intercontinental champion for the first time, once again chooses to focus on young talent, something that dates back several years: his incredible open challenges for the United States title back in 2015 are still very much remembered. It is evident that, considering that during his time as a villain his choice of opponents was, at best, questionable, he is looking to make the most of his last weeks as a wrestler to position the next generation as best as possible.
