The future of Adam Cole as a professional wrestler remains very uncertain. The former TNT champion was forced to step away from the ring after suffering a concussion. Cole himself announced his medical leave to the fans at the show prior to AEW All In Texas. Tears streaming down his face, the wrestler was comforted by his Paragon teammates, a gesture that raised alarms.

Last night, during an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tony Khan hinted that there is a possibility that Cole may never be able to wrestle again, although he did not rule out a return to action only if it is completely safe for the wrestler.

"I think the right situation would have to arise for Adam to return to wrestling. I believe it is, at least, possible that we continue to have Adam as part of the family, but I want to reach the point where he feels comfortable traveling again," Khan said.

"If he ever wanted to return to wrestling and it was the right situation, and everyone could handle it, so to speak, it would make a lot of sense. Anything involving head injuries or serious injuries, I always want to analyze and evaluate to see if it makes sense and if we can do it safely for it to be a good outcome for everyone," he added.

Khan's statements are nothing more than a reflection of the prevailing sentiment within All Elite Wrestling. Indeed, many already assume that Cole will not return to compete in a wrestling ring. This was explained by Bryan Alvarez in the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live.

"The feeling is that he may never wrestle again, and it's a very strong feeling in that direction. We'll see, but he's still dealing with many different things. I wish him the best. The most important thing is the brain he has in his head. Wrestling is just wrestling," Alvarez said.

The news has saddened a large part of the community, who see in Adam Cole's case something similar to what happened with Bryan Danielson years ago. "The American Dragon" was forced to retire prematurely after suffering several concussions. Even so, he was able to return to action to delight fans with a final and standout run in AEW. Let's hope that Adam Cole can fully recover to continue doing what he loves most, whether in the ring or backstage.
