On Wednesday night, AEW Collision left a decisive moment for the Ring of Honor women's division. In the main event held in her hometown of Boston, Mercedes Mone defeated the television champion Red Velvet to unify the championships and put an end to the era of the interim title.
Velvet had been out of action for months after getting injured and being unable to defend the title at Supercard of Honor. This led ROH to create an interim championship, which initially fell to Mina Shirakawa after winning a fatal four-way match in Texas.
Mone took over that reign last October at AEW WrestleDream, defeating Shirakawa and claiming her position as the interim champion. At Collision, the story came to its conclusion with the return of Red Velvet and a unification that the Boston crowd welcomed with ovation.
After the bell, the champion didn't miss the opportunity to send a clear message to her next rival. Mone confronted the women's world champion Kris Statlander, and forced her to submit with her Statement Maker, a gesture that clearly shows her intention to arrive at Full Gear with all the psychological advantage possible.
This Saturday at Full Gear, Statlander will put her world championship on the line against a confident Mercedes Mone, who now enters the match as the unified television champion of ROH and holder of 12 more titles. Below is the list of the thirteen championships currently held by "The CEO."
