The name of Chris Jericho continues to sound very strongly as the next big return to WWE. Since this summer, some statements from "The Nine" have been seen as an insinuation of his desire to return to what was once his home. Something that could happen at the beginning of 2026, since Jericho's current contract with All Elite Wrestling expires in December. If we add to this his prolonged absence from the company's television programming and the fact that AEW fans have turned their backs on him in the last year, this hypothetical return to WWE seems quite logical. Meanwhile, Tony Khan neither confirms nor denies whenever asked about the topic. His latest response was to journalist Adam's Apple, with whom he shared his greatest desire related to Jericho.
"I would say that, absolutely, I would love for Chris, in his final match - when the day comes that Chris wants to retire - to do it in AEW, but I also don't think Chris is really close to that point," Khan said.
Chris Jericho is one of the most veteran wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling and one of the key figures who were present and active in the early days of the company. In fact, Jericho became the first AEW World Champion, which helped promote the new brand internationally. Throughout these six years, "The Nine" has been part of numerous stories and rivalries while his record and repertoire of characters continued to grow. His last match took place in AEW Dynasty, where he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido. Since then, he has been absent from the company's television programming, which currently has no creative plans for the wrestler. He, on the other hand, has taken the time to attend to his commitments outside of professional wrestling, such as his band Fozzy and his podcast.
