WWE held a double recording of Friday Night SmackDown last night. Next week's episode will be broadcast on tape and was recorded last night, after the usual live show, due to the celebration of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 27.
At the live event, Carmelo Hayes and Penta achieved their respective victories to advance to the quarterfinals of the Last Time is Now tournament. Penta will face Solo Sikoa, supposedly on Monday Night Raw, and Carmelo Hayes will do the same with Gunther, who returned to action last week to defeat Je'Von Evans.
Regarding the recordings of next week's episode, two matches were held that revealed the first two semifinalists of the tournament. Jey Uso defeated Rusev in the first match, while LA Knight defeated The Miz, who replaced Sheamus due to injury. These results set up a match between Jey Uso and LA Knight, which will decide one of the finalists.
You can see the tournament bracket in the following WWE tweet (without revealing the victories of Jey Uso and LA Knight):
The Last Time is Now tournament is an initiative by WWE to determine John Cena's final opponent on December 13 at the Saturday Night's Main Event. Currently, John Cena is the Intercontinental champion and will defend the title on November 29 at Survivor Series against Dominik Mysterio.
