The story of Atticus Cogar with GCW has been anything but simple. Years after leaving due to differences with management, the wrestler returned in December 2024 without anyone imagining that he would end up starring in one of the most shocking moments of 2025.
At the Dream On event held this Saturday, and broadcast on Triller TV, Cogar closed the circle and lifted the GCW World Championship for the first time. The coronation came after hitting his Brain Hemorrhage on Effy, ending a reign of 307 days that had begun last January. Cogar and Charles Mason were supposed to have a match to determine the next contender, but Effy interrupted in the middle of the match and turned it into a triple threat with the title on the line. The move, however, ended up backfiring on him.
The match quickly turned into a chaotic scene. Wrestlers like Sawyer Wreck, who was returning to GCW, AJ Gray, Slade, Otis Cogar, Matthew Justice, Krule, and VNDL 48 intervened during different phases of the match, adding a level of chaos that ended up benefiting Atticus.
With this result, Cogar writes his name in the GCW champions' book, completing a journey that began in October 2019 when he debuted in the company before his abrupt departure. Now, as the world champion, he begins a new stage with a fan base that had been demanding his vindication for years.
The show also left another unexpected moment: the appearance of TNA Hall of Famer, Gail Kim. Far from a warm welcome, Kim acted as a heel, reprimanding the audience for supporting GCW and aligning herself with KJ Orso (formerly Fuego Del Sol). The celebration was short-lived. Joey Janela interrupted the scene, continuing an angle that had already heated up on social media, and ended up defeating Orso after Gail Kim herself failed in her attempt to interfere.
