Apollo Crews has made a triumphant return. After several months away due to injury, the Nigerian-American wrestler reappeared last night at the Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City, making his debut in Lucha Libre AAA during the Alianzas show.
In a non-televised match before the main event, Lince Dorado issued an open challenge to anyone willing to face him. The response was a big surprise: Apollo Crews, in excellent physical shape, came out to accept the challenge and immediately won over the Mexican audience.
Crews delivered an impressive athletic performance against Lince Dorado, showcasing power and agility as in his prime. The match ended with a great sequence: a gorilla press and a backflip in a vertical position to secure the three count. The crowd responded with a huge ovation, embracing the former WWE star immediately.
This appearance marks Apollo Crews' first match since January 24th, when he faced Johnny Gargano on SmackDown. Shortly after, it was revealed that he had suffered a pectoral injury, leading to surgery on February 4th. His return in AAA confirms that his recovery has been successful and he is ready to compete at the highest level again.
Apollo Crews choosing AAA for his return to the ring has sparked speculation. At the moment, it has not been confirmed whether this is a one-time appearance or the beginning of a new chapter outside of WWE, but his performance makes it clear that he still has a lot to offer.
Between the Mexican audience's reaction, his physical condition, and the dominant way he closed the match, Crews has reminded the world that he remains a top talent. Now the big question is where he will take the next step: whether he will focus on WWE again, return to AAA, or further explore the international scene.
