Zack Ryder returned to WWE during the SmackDown episode on November 14th and, as Chelsea Green has revealed, that return was not a coincidence, but the result of constant insistence that lasted for years. In her conversation with Adrian Hernandez, Green explained that Ryder spent five years staying in touch with WWE, sending updates about his work and reminding Triple H that he was available for any opportunity, especially for events like the Royal Rumble.
The wrestler emphasized that everything fell into place now because Ryder has a real personal relationship with John Cena, which made his participation in this final stage of the 17-time champion's career even more meaningful.
He has been in constant contact with WWE. The whole five years. He always made sure Triple H knew what he was doing or that he was available for a Rumble. I think it was a perfect storm: this made sense because he is friends with John Cena. Why wouldn't he want to be his final rival?
Green added that it was not only Ryder who pressured, but she herself and John Cena insisted repeatedly to WWE for the return to happen. That combination of efforts ended up working, and the company agreed. For her, the situation demonstrates that perseverance is key.
“Between me insisting to WWE, John Cena insisting to WWE, and Matt insisting to WWE... they finally gave in. If you don't ask, nothing happens. You have to ask, always," she stated.
Ryder's return to WWE was brief: he only had one match against LA Knight in the "The Last Time Is Now" tournament and there are no announced plans for new appearances. However, the audience's reaction made it clear that the affection towards Ryder remains intact, and his future always remains open if WWE decides to bring him back.
