WWE celebrates tonight the event Survivor Series, one of the four biggest shows of the year. This time, the show will take place at Petco Park in San Diego, California. As is tradition, the show will feature two WarGames matches. Additionally, John Cena will put the Intercontinental Championship on the line in his last match in a PLE.
Solowrestling will provide live coverage that you can follow in this article. As always, we encourage you to leave your comments. The show will start at 7:00 a.m ET (United States) and the Countdown to Survivor Series two hours earlier.
Joe Tessitore, Big E, and Wade Barrett welcome us to the first hour of the countdown.
Meghan Morant interviewed Stephanie McMahon before the show. Morant congratulated Stephanie on her nomination to the WWE Hall of Fame. McMahon recalled the moment she was informed about it: at Wrestlepalooza, being surprised by The Undertaker. Stephanie pointed out that you just have to see her reaction when the legend said the word "inducted" to understand that she didn't know anything about it. McMahon concluded by making it clear how important the wrestling business is to her.
The interview changed topics, focusing on the career of John Cena. Stephanie recalled how the seventeen-time world champion surprised her backstage with an improvised rap about her food. It was then that she suggested he bring that facet to television. McMahon continued by pointing out that one of the best things about the business is seeing stars grow, and Cena is one of those who has come the farthest. A guy who has always strived to learn and grow. Stephanie gave the example of the time Cena traveled to China to film a movie in Mandarin. McMahon stated that Cena does everything we see because he wants to, not because he has to. And when he steps into the ring, anything is possible.
Regarding Dominik Mysterio, Cena's opponent tonight, Stephanie assured that she likes him a lot. McMahon has enjoyed watching how that innocent boy has grown to become the heel we know today. And his match against Cena at Survivor Series will be something he will remember forever. Stephanie concluded the interview by pointing out that the retirement tour is not only important for him, but for all the fans.
Cathy Kelley interviewed Stephanie Vaquer backstage. The Women's World Champion sent a direct message to her opponent tonight. "Nikki. I know your story. But you don't know mine. I have no mercy", she said. "And today, at Survivor Series, I will show you exactly what a true champion is, I will show you exactly what a traitor deserves", she added before leaving.
Jackie Redmond interviewed Nikki Bella backstage. Nikki pointed out that Vaquer has only been in WWE "for five minutes", while she has been here for almost two decades. On the other hand, Bella is not afraid of the Chilean's threats. "It's funny, Stephanie, that you make threats that obviously you can't fulfill. But you know what? This is not about your Women's World Championship. It's about something much bigger: my legacy, and you will respect it. And tonight, do you think you're going to destroy me? No. I'm sorry, mamacita. I'm going to humiliate you," she said before leaving.
Michael Cole interviewed Becky Lynch before the show. "The Man" admitted that the last two months have been tough for her both personally and professionally. Too many injustices. But she has the best legal team in the world working on it. Becky described her defeat against Maxxine Dupri as one of the most unfair moments in WWE history. A situation of true corruption with numerous people involved in the matter, from the referee to AJ Lee. Cole insinuated that Lynch was imagining things, but the Irishwoman assured him she wasn't. In addition, she has never cheated in her life, unlike her rivals, even accusing Cole of deceiving the viewers with his statements.
Michael asked Becky about the return of AJ Lee. The Irishwoman described it as a tasteless joke. "Why has she come back? Nobody wants her back. You've heard the audience when she comes on stage. They boo her," "The Man" said. As for WarGames, Becky assured that she is fully prepared for a type of match she has won 100% of the times she has participated... when there was no conspiracy against her, of course. In fact, in her last two participations, she was the one who made the difference. "Because I am the greatest wrestler of all time," she said. And when she wins at Survivor Series, she will prove that she continues to overcome all adversities, especially now that everyone is against her.
Peter Rosenberg replaces Wade Barrett at the countdown table for the second hour of the pre-show.
Mark Kriegel interviewed Dominik Mysterio before the show. Mysterio pointed out that he has unfinished business with John Cena that the latter probably doesn't know about. Dominik recalled how Cena helped him a lot in the summer after the COVID pandemic, with both sharing the ring in a series of Live Shows. But that is now in the past. Now he doesn't need anyone's help. Cena is about to retire, while he will continue in the business for the next twenty years. "I don't need him," he said before hinting that in a few years he will become the face of WWE. Mysterio recalled that he is not only an important piece in Raw, but also leads AAA as the "King of Fighters". Dominik concluded the interview promising that tonight he will leave Survivor Series with a victory over Cena and once again a double champion.
Peter Rosenberg interviewed Triple H backstage. The WWE Content Chief explained the difficulties of setting up the WarGames structure in a baseball stadium like tonight's. Regarding Dominik Mysterio, Triple H believes he is doing great. In addition, it is admirable that he wants to detach himself from his father's shadow. Triple H believes that, at this point in his career, a loss against John Cena won't affect him. However, a victory could catapult him. As for Cena, Triple H is proud to have seen his career from the beginning to his imminent end. A conclusion that the seventeen-time world champion has had the privilege to choose. That's why he is happy for John. Triple H assures that he is not worried or nervous about Cena tonight. He just wants to see him once again in one of his last matches as a professional wrestler.
Cathy Kelley interviewed CM Punk backstage. "The Best in the World" acknowledged that his WarGames team could be affected by an ego clash, but it's something they already expected. Fortunately, he has a friend on the team. One whose father created WarGames. CM Punk assured that, despite everything, he and his teammates are on the same boat, so there is nothing to worry about. "I am a very, very dangerous man, and they all know it", he said referring to his opponents tonight. Kelley thanked CM Punk for his time to end the interview.
Jackie Redmond interviewed Roman Reigns before the show. Redmond asked Roman why he returned to the programming right now. "Why not? I never left," "The Original Tribal Chief" responded before ensuring that he always watches what happens in WWE from the top of the mountain. Redmond asked him about the feeling of many fans, who consider that Roman's dominance seems more diffuse with the emergence of talents like Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, who have previously attacked the Samoan. "I think it's just the circle of life," Reigns responded. When you're at the top of the mountain, everyone wants to bring you down to take that place. Regarding Paul Heyman, Roman believes that he cares about the business and contributes to creating stars. However, he also is a man who exploits them. And when he can't get more out of them, he just looks for new talents to exploit. Redmond asked Roman about his match in WarGames, where he will share a team with men with whom he has complicated relationships. "There has never been a superstar, a top guy, who leads others like me. My place as Head of the Table is consolidated. That's where I belong," Roman responded. Redmond asked him about Paul Heyman's statements, who ensures that his team this year is the best in the history of WarGames. "It's as if he's gathering a bunch of mercenaries," Reigns responded. Fortunately, he has a group of smart people who understand that there is a role for each of them, which they must assume.
Cassie B sings "The Star-Spangled Banner" to end the countdown show.
