A couple of weeks ago, Bret Hart made some controversial statements affirming that Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels, two of the main figures in the infamous Montreal Screwjob, were lovers. "The Hitman" pointed out that this situation ended up affecting him when he was "caught between two lovers," with one of them (HBK) doing everything possible to take away his position as the face of the company.
"I think there was something more between these two, honestly. I'm not trying to be sensationalist, I'm just being honest and direct. I suspected it then, and now I believe it even more: I think Shawn and Vince were sleeping together. And I'm very close to the truth," Hart said on the Johnny I Pro Show.
"It's like I got caught between two lovers, you know? And I was deceived and screwed over," he continued. "Shawn was so envious and jealous of my position that he finally had to sleep with Vince to get it".
His statements have not left anyone indifferent, and several colleagues in the profession have wanted to offer their opinion on the matter, with some pointing out that it is an invention of the Canadian legend. This is the case of Kevin Nash, who explained his point of view in the most recent edition of Kliq This Podcast.
"I spent most of three years of my life with Shawn Michaels, and I don't remember ever having a double knockout with Vince during any of our trips," he said. "Listen, I've heard a lot of shit about Vince. But never that. I read it and I didn't believe that shit when I heard it, you know?"
"I think (Bret Hart) has PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), but also that he suffered some damage from the stroke. And strokes change you, not only physically but also emotionally... Bret has had a tough life," he continued. "Every time we've gotten together and had a moment to share and talk... they've always been good times."
