SUKEBAN celebrated its eighth event last night as a promotion in the city of Miami, Florida. The show, held in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach, took place at the Miami Beach Bandshell, a venue that had a "sold out" sign hanging. The promotion, which returned to the city two years after its previous show, featured a card with five matches.
"Mixing wrestling, style, and entertainment, the evening saw Ichigo Sayaka capture the Sukeban World Championship. It also featured a surprise performance by JT, who performed his latest song 'Girls Gone Wild'. Violet Chachki and Gottmik made a special appearance to introduce Smack in the Box Misa Matsui and Delirious Dolly, assisting in their victory. The night concluded with a celebration for JT's birthday, with Ichigo Sayaka, Violet Chachki, and Gottmik joining the audience for the festivities.
Highlighting Sukeban's collaborators, the event was hosted by Kunichi Nomura and overseen by Sukeban's commissioner, Bull Nakano. The evening showcased costumes and styling by Olympia Le-Tan, co-founder and creative director of Sukeban; makeup by M.A.C.'s global director, Romero Jennings; nail art by Mei Kawajiri; the Sukeban Championship belt designed by renowned industrial designer Marc Newson; music by DJ ecec; and accessories by designer Katie Hillier. The main event saw Harajuku Stars leader Ichigo Sayaka defeat Atomic Banshee of the Vandals to be crowned the new champion," SUKEBAN wrote in its press release.
With this victory, Ichigo Sayaka becomes the fourth holder of the championship, ending Atomic Banshee's 20-day reign in her first title defense. Banshee won the title at the most recent SUKEBAN show held in Tokyo, Japan, in a five-way match that included then-champion Sareee Bomb, who ended a 400-day reign, the longest in the brief history of the championship.
