Megan Morant and Sam Roberts welcome us to the NXT Deadline pre-show.
Kelly Kincaid interviewed Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair before the show. Grey admitted that she was speechless when John Cena, one of her childhood heroes, chose her to participate in the Iron Survivor Challenge. Kendal recalled the first time she saw Cena at a live show: she was eight years old and attended a SmackDown event with her family. Grey pointed out that the seventeen-time world champion's motto inspired her to be better, to give her best to surpass her brother in all sports. Now, knowing that all this work has been recognized by Cena, fills her with pride.
Sinclair noted that her partner doesn't need any strategy or plan to win the Iron Survivor Challenge. She's a badass and that's more than enough. Grey agreed with Wren, recalling the latter's participation in last year's edition, where she almost caused an upset. That's why Sinclair is her partner. Kendal pointed out that her only strategy is to go out and score as many points as possible. Grey concluded by stating that Cena gave her this opportunity and now she will take advantage of it to earn her direct pass to NXT New Year's Evil. Kendal promised that by the end of the night, everyone will be talking about one woman, and her name will be "Kendal Grey".
We see a promotional video for the match between Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame.
A promotional video is shown for the NXT Championship match, which for the first time in the brand's history, will open a PLE.
Blake Howard interviewed Dion Lennox before the show. Lennox recalled his beginnings in NXT when he was considered an average athlete without emotions. But soon he met three other men who felt the same way. Thus arose DarkState, a faction whose dominance has been recognized by none other than John Cena. Regarding his decision to hand over his tag team championship to Saquon Shugars, Dion pointed out that he only did what was best for the team. "When one eats, we all eat," he said before ensuring that he will win the Iron Survivor Challenge to show the world that Cena was right in choosing him. Dion acknowledged that anger has accompanied him throughout his time in NXT, and that everything he has achieved he deserves. And he can't thank anyone but himself for it. Finally, he referred to Oba Femi. Lennox confessed that he waited a long time to tell "The Ruler" what he told him in the last episode of NXT. For him, there would be nothing more satisfying than snatching the NXT Championship from the man who belittled him. And he hopes to do it at New Year's Evil.
Megan Morant and Sam Roberts give a final overview of the card to end the Countdown Show.

Ava speaks with Blake Monroe backstage. The Brit feels inspired by her title defense at Gold Rush, so she is considering issuing an open challenge for the NXT North American Championship next Tuesday on NXT, given that the brand’s women’s division is full of talent. Ava reminds her that she is only champion because Zaria threw in the towel in her match against Sol Ruca. Also, an open challenge means anyone can answer it. “Are you sure you want to do that?” Ava asks. “You don’t think I can do it,” responds an offended “The Glamour.” Ava tries to explain that she’s not like Ilja Dragunov – of course not, she’s more “intense” – nor like Sami Zayn – of course not, she’s more beloved than the Canadian. “This all started with John Cena. What’s your answer? Tell me straight,” Monroe insists. Ava grants her request, informing her that next week she will have her open challenge. “You’re not such a bad GM after all,” says a smiling Blake as she stands beside her. That brings this segment to an end.

Sinclair believes Sol is just making excuses, reminding her that Grey took a spear from Zaria just a few days ago, and still managed to win tonight. “Zaria may not be here to defend herself from her questionable behavior, but she’s still my best friend. And one thing is certain: she fought for me, and I will do the same for her,” says Sol before leaving. Kendal and Wren do not understand what she meant by that.

Shiloh Hill stars in a new introduction video. Shiloh recalls how his journey as a football player began: chasing a squirrel in high school while trying to communicate with it. The squirrel eventually escaped him, but a coach noticed his athletic abilities and suggested he try the sport. Hill also reveals he has a tooth lodged in his head from his first fight at nine years old. Shiloh headbutted another kid who had him pinned by both arms.
