NXT already has defined the main event for its first big special of 2026. During the broadcast of NXT Deadline, it was confirmed that New Year's Evil will take place on Tuesday, January 6 on The CW, and it is now also known that Je'Von Evans will be the official challenger for the NXT Championship after winning the male Iron Survivor Challenge.
Evans secured his title opportunity in a frenetic match that ended with a rush of adrenaline. Moments after his victory, Tony D'Angelo returned to NXT television programming attacking him by surprise, making it clear that he does not intend to stay on the sidelines of the title picture.
On the women's side, Jacy Jayne will defend the NXT Women's Championship against Kendal Grey, whose victory in the female Iron Survivor Challenge was also confirmed during the event. Both title defenses will headline the special, which once again positions itself as the first major stop of the year for the brand.
The previous edition of New Year's Evil, held on January 7 in Los Angeles, left decisive moments such as Giulia's coronation over Roxanne Perez and Oba Femi's first reign in a triple threat against Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe. This year the story could repeat itself: Femi arrives in great form after defeating Ricky Saints to become champion for the second time.
