WWE is celebrating a new episode of Monday Night Raw tonight, this time number 1,698, from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The show will be broadcast live on Netflix and Solowrestling will bring you the results in this news article as every week.
Tonight's episode will feature several matches and segments of interest, highlighting an appearance by Gunther, who will address John Cena before his match at Saturday Night's Main Event. In addition, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will defend the Tag Team World Championships against The War Raiders. As always, we invite you to comment on the article to give your opinion on what happened on the show.
WWE Raw begins on Netflix!
The show starts with a promotional video for The Last Time is Now tournament, where Gunther emerged victorious over fifteen other participants.
Gunther is the one to open tonight's show. "The Ring General" is greeted with timid applause as most of the audience boos him. Gunther heads to the ring with a smile on his face. "Cena, Cena!" chant the fans before Gunther can speak. "We want Cena!" they continue. The Austrian reminds them that their hero is not here. Furthermore, this is his moment. Gunther recalls his victory over LA Knight last week, pointing out that making "The Megastar" surrender is one of the greatest achievements of his professional career. And thanks to this victory, in five days he will become John Cena's final opponent in his career.
"17 world championships. All the time on the road. Hustle, Loyalty, Respect. I don't agree with any of that. John Cena is the best Sports Entertainment of all time. But I'm here to remind everyone that on Saturday, John Cena will face the greatest professional wrestler of all time!" exclaims the Austrian.
Gunther asks the production team to put the countdown to Saturday Night's Main Event on the venue screen. That's the time the fans have to continue admiring their hero. "A hero who never gives up," he says. Gunther addresses the camera directly to send a message to "The Greatest of All Time." "John, beating you on Saturday won't be enough for me. I'm going to do something that no one has ever achieved before: I'm going to break your spirit. I'm going to throw you from side to side. I'm going to intimidate you. I'm going to make you fall headfirst and then I'm going to wrap my arms around your neck and squeeze. I'm going to squeeze with all I have until the last drop of loyalty and respect has left your body. Until there is only one way out. Until I force you to do the one thing you say you would never do: I'm going to make you surrender," says "The Ring General" to end his promo. The Austrian steps down from the ring to head backstage. Gunther stops for a moment to contemplate the countdown to Saturday Night's Main Event before continuing on his way.

Paul Heyman talks with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in one of the locker rooms. "Being The Best in the World doesn't make sense to me," Heyman tells them. An upset Logan Paul appears on the scene to ask his companions if they saw how Rey Mysterio slapped him last week. "Yes. I didn't like it," Reed replies. "Yeah, I didn't like it either. We have to do something about it, guys," says Logan. Bron asks if he will take care of it tonight. Logan replies yes. "The Maverick" asks Heyman if they can talk alone for a moment. They both head to a secluded area of the locker room. "This situation with Rey Mysterio has to end tonight," insists Logan. Heyman reminds him that, for the first time in his life, he has people who will have his back. "Look, I appreciate the help, but I want them to know that if they're in trouble, I'll have their backs too," Logan whispers. Heyman likes his comment. So much so that he now respects him more than before. That said, he hands him a golden brass knuckles, just in case he needs it. "Just in case," a smiling Logan repeats as he takes the weapon. "I like this guy. Really. Sorry, but I like him," Heyman says with a laugh as he returns to Bron and Bronson.
Rey Mysterio heads to the ring. Meanwhile, in the background, we see Adam Pearce arguing heatedly with Grayson Waller and The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods).
Byron Saxton interviews Lyra Valkyria and Bayley in the fan zone. "The Role Model" is glad that the women's tag team division is stronger than ever. However, that won't stop them from aiming for the top of it. Valkyria is confident in winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, especially now that she has the best possible partner by her side. Bayley assures that the fans want to see them with the gold around their waists. With these statements, we reach the end of this brief segment.
The War Raiders star in a promotional video before their title match tonight.
Rey Mysterio makes his entrance. The masked wrestler heads to the ring, where he is scheduled to face Finn Bálor. However, before he can reach the ring, he is attacked from behind by Logan Paul. He throws Mysterio against the audience barrier before confronting a fan. Logan takes the Mexican inside the ring to continue attacking him. Paul takes advantage of the situation to knock out Rey with a One Lucky Punch.
LA Knight bursts onto the scene, forcing Logan Paul to leave the ring!
"The Megastar" grabs a microphone to order Logan not to leave yet. LA Knight recalls that he still has unfinished business with Seth Rollins, so if he is truly the mysterious hooded figure, he will have no choice but to slam his damn head to the ground. "The Megastar" focuses again on Paul, reprimanding him for attacking and disrespecting a legend like Rey Mysterio. With things not going well for him lately, it's no wonder he feels the need to make "The Maverick" pay. "I don't want you to pay on Saturday. I don't want you to pay on Friday. I want you to pay on Monday. I want you to pay here in K.C. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!... with everyone saying...," shouts "The Megastar". The New Day and Grayson Waller enter the ring, interrupting the champions' celebration. Suddenly...
The Usos appear in the stands. Jey and Jimmy interact with the fans as they head to the ring. Once there, and by popular demand, the Samoans offer the audience a repeat of Jey's theme song before speaking. Jimmy announces that The Usos are back in the tag team division. Jimmy recalls that his brother has suffered too many defeats lately. And that led him to call him on the phone to ask him: "What are we doing, Uce?". Jey replies that it's time to be themselves again. They need gold around their waists once more. "The damn best team is now in your city!," exclaims.
Jimmy says they respect the champions. Jey agrees with his brother. AJ Styles and Dragon Lee don’t know them, but The New Day do. "The New Day versus The Usos. You know how this story ends. We’re going to beat the hell out of you! We’re going to run right through you, like we always do! YEET", exclaims Jey before turning toward AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, to whom he promises they will take their titles. Vaquer replies that anyone. "I want to face everyone. I’m not someone who talks too much. My actions speak for me. I am the best wrestler on the planet. I am the best. And no, it’s not because of the Devil's Kiss. I am the best. And Nikki, you’re a legend. You’re part of the Hall of Fame. But you know what, Nikki? Today, the WWE women’s division is very different from what it was 15 years ago. In this locker room we have Rhea Ripley. We have Bayley. We have Nattie. We have IYO SKY. All of them incredible. And do you know who’s at the top?", asks the Chilean as she raises the Women’s World Championship.
Nikki Bella interrupts the segment.
Nikki begins mocking the fans in Kansas City, pointing out that they don’t deserve to be in the presence of a WWE Hall of Famer, a legend and a celebrity like her. Nikki walks toward the ring, making it clear to Vaquer that their rivalry isn’t over. Bella steps onto the apron. "I came here to tell you that I demand a rematch", she says. Suddenly, Raquel Rodriguez appears on the scene to grab the WWE Hall of Famer and throw her into one of the ring posts. The Texan picks up Nikki’s microphone and steps into the ring. After a few seconds, the Judgment Day member leaves the ring to head backstage. This brings the segment to an end.
Byron Saxton interviews Ivy Nile (accompanied by The Creed Brothers) in the stands area. Ivy makes it clear she feels nothing for Maxxine Dupri even though they used to be friends in the past. Nile still doesn’t understand how Dupri became champion before her. Ivy points out that Maxxine is using the title as a simple accessory to show off on her social media posts. Now she is training hard with Natalya. Ivy, however, has trained at that intensity her whole life. "Being champion doesn’t make her better. She’s never beaten me and she never will", says Nile. She reiterates that no matter how much Dupri trains, the result won’t change: on Monday Maxxine will lose, and she will become the new Intercontinental Champion.
The members of The Judgment Day talk in their "clubhouse". Finn Bálor is happy to have the night off after the mysterious hooded man attacked Rey Mysterio. "I don’t know who this masked man is, but I like him," says a smiling Dominik Mysterio. Raquel Rodriguez appears. Liv Morgan approaches her to ask about what happened minutes ago. "Last time Nikki ruined my title opportunity, so I made sure it didn’t happen again", replies the Texan. Liv understands. It’s just that she hadn’t told her anything about it. "I didn’t know we had to report everything to you now", says Raquel. Morgan assures her that’s not the case. In fact, she’s looking forward to seeing Raquel with the Women’s World Championship around her waist. Rodriguez thanks her before heading toward Adam Pearce’s office to address the matter. "Well, looks like I’ll be in your corner tonight," says Liv to Roxanne Perez. Morgan wants to make sure “The Prodigy” is okay, because with Raquel going after the Women’s World Championship, it’s up to them to win the tag titles. Woods, for his part, says the Samoans are right about one thing: they’ve been losing lately, and they’ll lose again next week. Xavier encourages them to bring whatever they want, like the Ula Fala or even their own father. Nothing will change the outcome: The Usos will be buried under their own penitentiary. Kofi and Xavier end their promo demanding that fans raise their hands to the sky and exclaim: “Thank God for The New Day!”
We see a new promotional video focused on the hard training Maxxine Dupri is undergoing under Natalya’s guidance. “Another one!”, repeats the Intercontinental Champion every time she submits a training partner in an Ankle Lock. Paul Heyman introduces his teammates during the final commercial break. The crowd keeps booing The Vision. Heyman doesn’t know why. What he does know is that on January 5, at the first WWE Raw of 2026, Bron Breakker will become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Breakker gets the microphone. “CM Punk! CM Punk!”, chant the fans. Bron wonders where “The Best in the World” is. Because if he were here, he would have suffered another loss. Breakker again asks where CM Punk is—not physically, but the character. Bron says CM Punk is nothing but a fraud. A guy who prides himself on not using drugs, but now looks like a junkie.
Breakker doesn’t want to face this CM Punk, but his 2011 version. The one who beat The Rock. The one who had one of the longest WWE Championship reigns. That’s why he begs him on his knees to show up on January 6 as that version. "If you don’t. If I don’t get that version of CM Punk, I’m going to destroy you. I’m going to send you to the hospital. I’m going to break you. I’m going to take the World Heavyweight Championship from you. Hell! You know what? I’ll take your wife too while I’m at it!", he exclaims.

SPEAR!! 1...2...3!!", he repeats over and over as his partners reach LA Knight’s location.
Reed and Paul attack LA Knight, also taking out the security members who try to stop them. Logan assists Bronson so he can hit a powerbomb on LA Knight through a table. “The Megastar” tries to get back up. Reed and Paul decide to continue the assault. Bronson throws LA Knight against a parked car. More security members appear, only to be beaten by the heels. Paul mercilessly slams his victim’s head while dragging him onto the roof of the car. Meanwhile, Reed climbs onto some production crates at a higher elevation. Once in position, Bronson crushes him with a Tsunami. A furious Adam Pearce appears on the scene to order the heels to leave while desperately calling for medical assistance. This brings the episode to an end.
