The night of December 10th brought an unexpected scare at AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming. Jack Perry, who entered the tournament as a substitute for Darby Allin in the AEW Continental Classic tournament, faced Kazuchika Okada in a Gold League match that was full of history and tension.

However, a key moment in the match set off all the alarms. Midway through the match, Perry performed a suicide dive on Okada at ringside. The move not only impacted the Rainmaker, but also caused Perry to legitimately injure his ankle.

As reported early this morning by Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer, the injury was real and initially worried the officials. Nevertheless, despite the pain, Perry decided to continue and finish the match. According to Alvarez, the wrestler is "fine" and the injury doesn't seem to have major consequences, although he was working through discomfort during the final minutes.

The match left moments as bizarre as they were intense, including a spot where Perry ended up biting Okada's groin, a direct nod to their previous rivalry. With the show already closed, the tournament standings were very tight: Kazuchika Okada and Kyle Fletcher lead the Gold League with 6 points, while in the Blue League the top spot is also shared by Konosuke Takeshita and Jon Moxley, both with 6 points.
