The new regime of WWE has brought numerous changes at all levels, including a new policy regarding PLEs. As part of their new economic strategy, premium live events held outside the United States have significantly increased in number in recent years, generating substantial revenue for the company. Countries like Scotland, France, Germany, Australia, and Saudi Arabia have hosted PLEs in this new era. But they won't be the only ones.
Recently, Nick Khan confirmed that WWE would hold its first PLE in Italy in early 2026, although without confirming an approximate date. Now, a report from Wrestrevotes reveals that the company already has firm plans for this event, which could be the first PLE after WrestleMania 42.
According to the report, the planned date for the PLE is Sunday, May 31. Traditionally, the company holds Backlash as the first PLE after the grand event. However, it has not yet been decided if the Italy show will be presented under that name. Nevertheless, the company is using it as the internal name. On the other hand, the venue and city that will host the event have not been confirmed yet.
So far, Italy has hosted two televised WWE shows. The most recent of them took place earlier this year on the Road to WrestleMania 41 European tour, with the SmackDown episode on March 21 at the Unipol Arena in Bologna. That tour also included a SmackDown episode in Barcelona, marking the first time a WWE televised show was held in Spain.
