The new live action movie of Street Fighter will hit theaters worldwide next year. And it will do so with a cast of actors as extensive as the list of characters from the popular franchise that will appear in the film, three of them very well known to fans of professional wrestling: Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Hirooki Goto, who play Guile, Akuma, and E. Honda, respectively.
Today, Paramount Pictures has shared the first trailer of the movie, where we can see the entire Street Fighter cast in action that will be part of the story. It is worth noting the visual fidelity to the saga that the film's director, Kitao Sakurai, has wanted to capture in this new movie.
As many were expecting, Rhodes will sport Guile's classic and unmistakable hairstyle, unlike the character played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the 1994 film. On the other hand, Reigns has managed to show the wild and untamable spirit of Akuma, one of the most powerful characters in the franchise. As a detail, the trailer also features a nod to the iconic stage of destroying a car.
Set in the year 1993, estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are recruited by the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) to participate in the upcoming World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, destiny, and fury. But behind this tournament lies a deadly conspiracy that will force them to face each other... and the demons of their past. And if they don't... GAME OVER!
