This morning a new edition of Saturday Night's Main Event was held, a show that featured John Cena's retirement and some interesting matches. In the main event, Gunther defeated John Cena.

Before the match, WWE aired a video in which a large number of friends, colleagues, and rivals stepped out of character to deliver a final message, with many of them claiming to have finally seen Cena, referencing the iconic phrase "You can't see me".

Lilian Garcia introduced Cena after the WWE legend made his final entrance down the aisle. In a brief moment, Cena wanted to focus on the camera that always captures his shot, as a tribute. Cena embraced several familiar faces at ringside, highlighting Kevin Owens, who received a great ovation.

The match was evenly matched from start to finish, with Gunther trying to take Cena down, and Cena performing his full repertoire for the delight of the fans. There was also a crazier moment when Cena executed the Attitude Adjustment on Gunther on top of the commentator's table from the metal stairs. Gunther brushed against the metal, but the moment unfolded as planned.

Both competitors pulled out all the stops, with Cena escaping several of Gunther's Powerbombs, and the Austrian avoiding a three-count after receiving a Super Attitude Adjustment from the corner. The final minutes were truly agonizing, with Gunther persisting with his Sleeper Hold and Cena pushing himself to the limit, living up to his motto "Never Give Up". However, the disappointment was immense when Cena could no longer continue and ended up submitting.

Gunther celebrated the victory as a true villain, in his own style, but he quickly left the ring, leaving the moment for Cena, who had to endure chants of "Bullshit" from a very heated crowd. In fact, Cena had to listen to "you messed up" when Triple H and the WWE roster appeared on the scene. Cena received both CM Punk and Cody Rhodes' belts. Subsequently, the embrace from Triple H, heavily booed by the audience. The content director pointed to one of the giant screens, which displayed an emotional video about Cena's life and career. The wrestler left alone through the entrance, waving to the fans one last time.

John Cena's retirement tour has come to an end with this match. It began earlier this year, with the 17-time champion's appearance at the premiere of Raw on Netflix on January 6. Cena had already confirmed that he would undertake a retirement tour back on July 6, 2024, during the broadcast of Money in the Bank 2024.

Since the tour began, John Cena has had several rivalries, with the standout being Cody Rhodes, who was instrumental in the start of his heel turn, highly praised at first but heavily criticized over time. Thanks to this, Cena secured his 17th world championship at WrestleMania. He then successfully defended the title until SummerSlam, where he lost to Rhodes.

To determine John Cena's final opponent, WWE announced the creation of a 16-participant tournament, under the name "Last Time is Now". Gunther defeated Je'Von Evans, Carmelo Hayes, Solo Sikoa, and LA Knight to win the tournament and earn the honorable opportunity to retire Cena.
