A few hours ago, we saw how Mick Foley, a three-time world champion of WWE, announced that he will not renew his contract with WWE when it expires in June of next year. Foley publicly stated on his social media that he will not sign another agreement as a legend. The main reason seems to be ethical and political disagreements. While TKO's company has a clear Trumpist Republican stance, the ECW legend has always been one of its biggest detractors in the wrestling scene.

The last straw was the President's reaction to the terrible murder of film director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle. After learning of their deaths, on Monday, December 15, Trump reacted in a comical and provocative manner, making it clear his lack of concern for these events. In a message on Truth Social, the magnate communicated the following message: "Something very sad happened in Hollywood last night. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling film director and comedian, but who was once a great talent, passed away along with his wife, Michele, allegedly due to the anger he caused others with his massive, persistent, and incurable affliction, a paralyzing disease known as TRUMP DISORDER SYNDROME, sometimes called TDS. He was known for driving people crazy with his unrestrained obsession with President Donald J. Trump, and his evident paranoia reached new heights as the Trump administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, with the Golden Age of the United States approaching, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!".

Naturally, this message has sparked a wave of criticism and reproach, pointing to Trump as an insensitive character devoid of any moral values. One of his detractors was musician Jack White, who noted on Instagram the lack of respect for the deceased implied in the text. Mick Foley responded to this message as follows: "What @officialjackwhite said is totally true. I don't understand how any of my WWE colleagues can support, let alone stand by, this man."

The bombshell: Foley breaks ties with WWE as long as Trump remains in power

This tense situation has escalated in the past few hours. After several occasions where the performer of Mankind or Dude Love showed his disappointment and anger with the President's actions, the situation has finally boiled over. In a bold decision, not so common in wrestling, the wrestler announced that he will not renew his contract with WWE. "PARTING WAYS WITH WWE. While I have been concerned about WWE's close relationship with Donald Trump for several months, reading the cruel comments from the president after Rob Reiner's death was the last straw. I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man seemingly devoid of compassion while leading our country towards autocracy. Last night, I informed @WWE's talent relations department that I would not participate in the company as long as this man remained in office. Additionally, I will not sign a new contract with Legends when mine expires in June. I love WWE, will always cherish my time with them, and am deeply grateful for all the opportunities they provided me."

This decision thus concludes a relationship between wrestler and company that, while not without its low points, seemed quite solid in recent years. However, it appears that Foley's disdain for the policies, figures, and modus operandi of the Trump Administration has exceeded his patience. Mick Foley's figure within the American wrestling scene is truly gigantic, so it would not be surprising that, once legal relationships are concluded, the wrestler approaches other companies.
