Bandido has gone from making history in Ring of Honor to positioning himself on the direct path to the ultimate gold of All Elite Wrestling. The Mexican, who already holds the ROH World Championship, won the Dynamite Diamond Ring and thus secured an opportunity for the AEW World Championship. It was only a matter of time before the date was announced, and it's now official: Bandido will challenge the champion at Maximum Carnage, on January 14th in Phoenix, Arizona.
The identity of his opponent was determined in the main event of Worlds End 2025, a fatal four-way match in which Samoa Joe defended his reign against MJF, Swerve Strickland, and Hangman Adam Page. MJF managed to prevail and regain the championship, becoming a two-time AEW World Champion and securing the showdown with Bandido in a highly anticipated match for fans of both brands.
With the match already confirmed, AEW is preparing a clash that mixes styles, momentum, and two trajectories that are reaching a boiling point. Bandido aims to become a double champion, something that few have achieved in the recent history of the company. MJF, on the other hand, comes with the mission of reaffirming himself as the central figure of AEW in 2026 after his year-end triumph.
Maximum Carnage will take place at the Arizona Financial Theater in Phoenix, AZ, where an episode of AEW Collision will also be taped. Below you can read the updated card for the show.
