MJF conquered the AEW World Championship at Worlds End to begin his second reign in Tony Khan's company. However, one of his first title defenses will not take place in the promotion, but in the independent scene. "The Devil" announced this in a video shared on his social media.
In the video, MJF confirmed his return to Limitless Wrestling to be part of the card for The Limitless Rumble 2026, an event scheduled for January 16th at The Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. "The Devil" will put the title on the line against Alec Price, a talent who reminds him of a young MJF. "My name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman and I'm better than you. And, Alec Price, you'll soon find out," he said to conclude his promo.
The Limitless Rumble 2026 will mark MJF's return to the Maine promotion after more than six years. "The Devil" has competed for the company since its relaunch in 2019, the year he became the first Limitless World Champion. MJF lost the title to Anthony Green in a no disqualification match at Limitless Know Your Enemy 2019. That was the last time he appeared on a show for the promotion.
Prior to his match against Price, MJF will defend the AEW World Championship against Bandido at Dynamite Maximun Carnage, a show set for January 14th. If he emerges victorious from both matches, MJF would achieve a new personal record: successfully defending the AEW top title twice in just 48 hours.
