Although Vince McMahon officially left WWE and TKO in 2024 after being involved in a serious lawsuit, not everyone believes that his influence has completely disappeared. At least, not according to Vince Russo, who is once again casting doubt on what really happens behind the scenes.
During a recent appearance on his podcast Coach and Bro, the former writer was blunt in stating that the supposed breakup between McMahon and WWE was more of a staged act than a real separation. According to Russo, the internal decisions and the timing of events do not align with the version that was publicly presented.
According to his analysis, the initial rejection of McMahon by some executives may have been nothing more than a calculated move to reassure shareholders, while the real power remained intact behind the scenes.
There was no real anger. It was all part of the plan. The way everything has been handled, with half-truths and playing games with the shareholders, is very ugly.
Beyond corporate politics, Russo also pointed out specific examples on screen that, in his opinion, reveal a very recognizable type of humor and creative approach. For him, certain recent segments fit too well with the style historically associated with McMahon.
One of the cases he mentioned was a song aired on SmackDown with explicit taunts towards The Miz, a type of humor that Russo considers unmistakable. In his opinion, that tone does not appear by chance and reflects a mindset that has never completely left the company.
The former writer went even further by stating that, despite the official statements, McMahon has never truly stopped being involved in the product, even if his role is no longer visible or publicly recognizable.
