WWE is not planning a discreet return for Chris Jericho. Far from a simple one-time appearance, the company is reportedly preparing a high-profile comeback that will kick off at the 2026 Royal Rumble and extend, at least, through the key weeks leading up to Elimination Chamber.

According to Jonathan Coachman, Jericho will not be appearing on the next episode of Raw, as had been speculated in some circles. Instead, WWE has set his official return for the Royal Rumble on January 31, with a revamped presentation both aesthetically and in terms of character.

Jericho won't be on Raw this Monday. He's scheduled to return at the Rumble with a completely new look and character.

Coachman also detailed how WWE plans to utilize Jericho once his return takes place. The idea is to place him in a "special attraction" role, similar to what names like Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar have held at different times, but with one significant difference. WWE is confident that his charisma and experience will immediately add weight to the on-screen stories.

According to the shared information, Jericho is in great physical shape and is already gearing up for a significant role within the creative plans between the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. Although some commitments with his band Fozzy will limit his availability, WWE is counting on him for an important storyline during that period.

The context also plays in favor of the move. Jericho's contract with AEW expired at midnight on December 31, 2025, ending a six-year stint with the company. His status as a free agent was hinted at by Jon Alba, who already pointed out that his most likely destination was WWE.

It's worth noting that the Royal Rumble will take place in Saudi Arabia, and it's very likely that, for that reason, surprises in the Royal Rumble matches will be very difficult to keep hidden. We'll see what WWE does to maintain the mystery until the end.
