The General Manager is proud of them and thanks them for offering a great opener on the first show of 2026. The new tag team champions thank him for his words before leaving. At that moment, we see Gunther walking backstage. Pearce approaches him. The General Manager reminds him that they are in a very special show, the first of 2026. Adam tells the Austrian that the locker room is not happy with him due to his continuous lack of respect towards John Cena. Pearce knows that Gunther will address the fans, and it's something he won't stop, but he advises him to show some respect. "Respect?" asks the Austrian. "Yes, respect," insists the General Manager. "The Ring General" laughs as he heads to the ring.
CHAPTER TWO: HE WHO REMAINS
As soon as he appears on the entrance ramp, Gunther shows the commemorative shirt of his victory over John Cena with the legend "Tap like a...". Gunther climbs onto the commentary table to show the shirt again, even pretending to throw it to the crowd. The European enters the ring, where he continues to enjoy the boos from the fans. With a microphone in hand, Gunther recalls that he has been asked to show some respect. "You surrendered!" chants the crowd. "But what about respect for me? Respect for the man who made John Cena do what he said he would never do. Respect for the man who made John Cena surrender like a b..."
AJ Styles interrupts the promo!
AJ Styles stands in front of Gunther. Both men silently observe each other. "AJ Styles!" chants the fans. "The Phenomenal One" tries to speak, but the Austrian doesn't allow it. Gunther knows why "The Phenomenal One" has come out, and he believes he is aiming higher than he should. "You and I know that I am the best wrestler in this company right now... and that includes you," says the Austrian. "The Phenomenal One" tries to speak, but he is once again interrupted by Gunther, who insists that he made John Cena surrender like a dog. "And that brings us to a question: What will little AJ do about it?", Gunther asks before making the "You Can't See Me" gesture inches from AJ Styles' face. Gunther laughs to continue provoking the former WWE champion. AJ Styles responds with a slap! A threatening Gunther faces off with AJ Styles, but he doesn't hesitate to push him away with his hand. Gunther returns to confront "The Phenomenal One," who doesn't back down an inch as he challenges him to strike back. However, the European simply remains facing him. "That's what I thought! Nothing!", exclaims an energetic AJ Styles in the face of Gunther's impassivity. "The Phenomenal One" throws the microphone to the mat before leaving the ring. Gunther remains silent, still surprised by what just happened. And so we reach the end of this segment.

Pearce promises her that they will discuss the matter once there is a result. "As I said, I won't go to the back of the line," says Ivy before leaving. Suddenly, Gunther bursts onto the scene to complain about what happened a few minutes ago. "I want AJ!" he exclaims. "The Phenomenal One" quickly appears on the scene. AJ Styles mocks the Austrian for going to the General Manager to complain instead of facing the problems like a man. With that said, he proposes that they face each other in a match. "What will you do? Will you complain? Or will you stand there like a dog?", asks AJ Styles. "Pearce, I want him, next week!" exclaims a furious "The Ring General" before leaving. "I'm going to tear his head off," says AJ Styles. "Next week. It's official," says Pearce as the segment comes to an end.
