The CW and Netflix will air a new episode of WWE NXT tonight, with Vic Joseph and Booker T at the commentary table, live from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. As is tradition, the developmental brand will welcome the new year with a new edition of New Year's Evil, where the top championships will be on the line.
Highlighting the match between Oba Femi and Leon Slater for the NXT Championship. On the other hand, Jacy Jayne will defend the Women's Championship against Kendal Grey. Additionally, Blake Monroe will have her desired rematch for the NXT Women's North American Championship, currently held by Thea Hail. As always, we invite you to comment on the post to give your opinion on what happened in the show.
NXT New Year's Evil begins on Netflix!
Vic Joseph and Booker T welcome us to the first show of the brand in 2026 from the stands' box.
We see the arrival of some of tonight's protagonists at the venue: Fatal Influence in full (while Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair train), Oba Femi, and Leon Slater.
Thea Hail makes her entrance. The North American Champion heads to the ring, where she will defend her title against Blake Monroe. However, "The Glamour" attacks her from behind! Blake violently throws Thea against the metal stairs. The referee (Victoria D'Errico) tries to stop Blake, but she refuses to obey. Monroe looks for a metal chair under the ring to use mercilessly against Hail. Blake grabs Thea to throw her against the public barrier, which gives way due to the impact. Monroe runs towards her victim, but four officials manage to stop her in time. "Let them fight!" chant the fans.
Ricky Saints makes his entrance. A smiling "The Absolute" watches a pained Thea being attended to next to the public barrier before stepping into the ring. Microphone in hand, Saints assumes that the match for the NXT Women's North American Championship is postponed. That's why he thought of coming out: to give the fans a very special gift. "What better way to start 2026 than with me", says Saints.
Ricky recalls that Trick Williams and Je'Von Evans became free agents to end up signing with the main roster. And they did it for one reason: because they knew that in NXT there can only be one star, and that star has a name and surname: Ricky Saints. And he won't go anywhere.
Ricky warns all the talents currently part of the NXT roster, promising them that he will send them back to where they came from if they dare to go against him. That said, he goes directly to the protagonists of the main event of the night. Saints doesn't care about any of them. If Leon Slater wins, then he will take care of him. But if Oba Femi does, it will be different. Saints recalls that his personal score with the Nigerian is tied at one, and that's a thorn he wants to remove. Ricky wants to make it clear that he may slip, but he will never fall. "I will make sure that, regardless of who wins tonight, NXT remains in my hands, just like the NXT Championship. And that is - as if you needed to be reminded - Absolute", says Ricky before posing, ending his promo.
A concerned Ava walks backstage. The General Manager meets Robert Stone. "How can it be that we are only 10 seconds into the new year and the show is already chaos?", she asks. After that, she orders him to find Blake Monroe. Stone immediately sets off in search of the British woman. Ava then approaches a production member to ask for their headphones. Ava puts them on her head to give instructions to the television team, informing them that the first match of the night will be the one between Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley.
We see a promotional video of the rivalry between Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley.
Ava finally finds Blake Monroe backstage. Furious, the General Manager reproaches her for attacking Thea Hail. "Last week I tried to help you. What the hell was that?" she asks. "I'm sorry, I made a mistake. But you wanted The Glamour, and with The Glamour comes chaos. So come on, fine me and give me back my North American Women's Championship. Let's go," Blake responds as she extends her hands. Ava informs her that not only has she lost her chance, but she also orders her to leave the venue. Annoyed, Blake complains. "Get out!," Ava shouts. Monroe hits a production box and leaves the place.

Izzi carries Tatum on her shoulders to drop her in one of the corners. Dame unleashes a flurry of attacks on her opponent. She escapes to pay her back in kind. The action moves to the opposite corner, where Izzi executes a corner spear. Dame tries to repeat the move in the opposite corner, but Paxley dodges it, causing her opponent to impact against it. We see a promotional video of Elio LeFleur, a French masked wrestler who announces his upcoming debut in NXT.
We see Thea Hail being attended to in the infirmary. Jordynne Grace accompanies her. Ava appears on the scene to congratulate "The Juggernaut" for standing up to Jade Cargill on SmackDown. "Thank you, but I find it a bit difficult to get excited right now," Jordynne replies. Ava points out that she is right. The General Manager then addresses Thea to inform her that she will postpone her title defense. Hail refuses, as tonight she was supposed to prove to the world that she deserves the NXT Women's North American Championship. Ava indicates that it cannot be, as she has expelled Blake Monroe from the venue. Thea asks if she can bring her back. Ava replies that she will not reward the British woman after what she has done. Hail then proposes to go out and issue an open challenge, the same one that Monroe canceled at the time. "No, that's not a good decision," says Ava. "She has made a decision. Let her do it", says Grace. The General Manager thinks for a moment. "Alright. You have your open challenge", says Ava before leaving.

Jayne doesn't miss the opportunity and finishes off her opponent with a Rolling Encore. 1..2..3.
Winner and STILL NXT Women's Champion: Jacy Jayne
Ava welcomes Ethan Page to her office. "What do you want?" she asks directly. "All Ego" just wants to talk about his historic reign as NXT North American Champion after his successful title defense last week against Moose, one of the biggest stars of TNA Wrestling. Page continues to recall that in 2025 he defended his title 12 times, a record. "You're welcome," he says. Ava wonders why he hasn't mentioned that it's a record he shares with Oba Femi, Dominik Mysterio, and Stephanie Vaquer. Page points out that he didn't include all his defenses in non-televised live events. "Clearly, you're not in a good mood. You're having a tough day. Let me finish presenting my thoughts in the ring and leave you alone", says Ethan. Ava wonders why "All Ego" is taking it so well. There's something that doesn't add up. Page assures her that he's being honest. He will leave to leave her alone and...
The Vanity Project (Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor, and Ricky Smokes) enter the office, interrupting "All Ego". He greets them with a big smile before introducing them to Ava as the future of NXT. "Gentlemen, you have about five or ten minutes. Have fun," says Ethan as he leaves. Drake addresses Ava directly. "I think we should talk about 2026, boss," he says as the segment comes to an end.
A pained Thea Hail makes her entrance into the ring. The North American Champion takes a microphone before kneeling on the canvas. Thea acknowledges that her title victory was controversial, and therefore she regrets more than anyone what happened tonight. "I am devastated because Blake Monroe attacked me, as no one wanted this match more than I did," she says. "I promised the WWE Universe a title match tonight. And damn it, I'm going to give it to all of you! Because I need to prove to myself and everyone else that I deserve the NXT Women's North American Championship. So, with that said, open challenges are back. Whoever wants an opportunity, come out here. The first one to reach the ring will have a shot at this championship."
Part of the women's roster appears on the entrance ramp, competing to see who will enter the ring. We see Kali Armstrong, Karmen Petrovic, Wendy Choo, Nikkita Lyons, Chantel Monroe, Layla Diggs, Arianna Grace, and Skylar Raye, among others. Several officials try to restore order. Suddenly, Tatum Paxley appears on the scene with a chainsaw, thus clearing her path to the ring. Meanwhile, Izzi Dame bursts into the ring from the opposite side to surprise Hail, whom she strikes with a big boot. Dame taunts Tatum as several officials try to take her back to backstage. Shawn Spears grabs one of the referees to bring him into the ring. Meanwhile, Niko Vance instructs the timekeeper to ring the bell.

Winner and NEW NXT North American Champion: IZZI DAME
Dame celebrates on one of the corners before hugging her teammates. Meanwhile, Thea tries to recover next to the commentary table.
Lola Vice watches Dame’s coronation on a screen backstage. At that moment, the members of The Vanity Project approach her with the intention of flirting, but Hank Walker and Tank Ledger come to their partner’s rescue. The former tag team champions advise them to move along. Jackson Drake reminds his teammates that they have other matters to attend to. With that said, the three men leave the area. “I didn’t know NXT needed more idiots”, says Tank. “I didn’t want to embarrass them on their first day, but they were five seconds away from getting knocked out”, says Lola before asking Hank and Tank if they saw the match between Thea and Izzi. Vice recalls that she defeated Dame two weeks ago, which automatically puts her in the orbit of the North American Championship. However, she must first deal with Kelani Jordan. Walker recalls how Jordan attacked Lola from behind. Tank, meanwhile, points out that Vice knows how to kick ass. Lola promises to prove that a gymnast can’t compare to an MMA-trained fighter. Jordan appears on the scene. “You’re talking about me!” Kelani exclaims before throwing a shoe at her. Jordan charges at her looking to fight, but several talents intervene to stop it. The members of Chase U restrain Jordan while Hank and Tank contain Vice’s fury. Meanwhile, the members of The Vanity Project record the scene on their cell phones.
Joe Hendry heads to Ava’s office to ask for a match. The General Manager senses that it’s about DarkState. Hendry confirms it. Last week, the faction not only interrupted his concert, but also attacked him. He’s had enough, so he wants to face their leader, Dion Lennox, next week in a No Disqualification match. Ava understands the Scot and loves his determination, but they’re talking about DarkState. If she grants his request, the match will become a handicap bout. Joe proposes a solution: he’ll find two badasses to even the odds. “If you can find them, I’ll book the match”, says Ava. Hendry thanks her before leaving in search of those men.
Ethan Page makes his entrance to the ring. “All Ego” says it’s time to celebrate the arrival of the new year by honoring the most dominant superstar of 2025: himself. He then boasts about adding a new achievement to his already extensive list of successes after defeating Moose last week to retain the NXT North American Championship. “I sent that blockhead back to TNA empty-handed, proving once again that I’m the greatest North American alive”, he says. Page reminds us that Oba Femi will defend the NXT Championship against Leon Slater in a few minutes. But let’s not get it twisted—he is the real main event. “Ladies and gentlemen, the North American Championship is the most prestigious title not only in NXT, but in all of WWE!” he exclaims. Ethan recalls that Oba is a world champion, but has only defended the gold in one part of North America. Meanwhile, he has defended his North American title against opponents from a wide variety of countries and different companies and brands. Page believes this makes him a sort of globetrotter and therefore an international icon. “And friends, in 2026, just…” he says before being interrupted.
¡Jasper Troy appears on the entrance ramp!
Jasper asks Ethan why he talks as if he’s the only NXT champion that matters, because in 2025 there was another man just as dominant as him. Troy promises that in 2026 he’ll prove not only that he’s the best Powerhouse in NXT, but also the Monster of the brand. Jasper enters the ring to remind everyone that he arrived in NXT like a bulldozer to win the WWE Speed Championship. “But it won’t be the only title I carry this year”, says Troy as he stares at the North American Championship.
¡Josh Briggs storms onto the scene!
Josh tells both men to stop talking nonsense, because neither of them is on his level. Briggs heads toward the ring while assuring that he is the best Powerhouse in NXT. He then advises Page not to waste time with losers like Myles Borne before mocking the fans, who are chanting for him to go back backstage.
¡Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Arianna Grace interrupt the segment!
Lorenzo says he has business to take care of with Page, especially after everything that happened between NXT and TNA last year. Because right now, he’s the only NXT talent holding a TNA championship. And “All Ego” considers himself an international icon? “I’m as international as it gets. I’m the TNA International Champion!” exclaims “Stacks.” He then turns to Josh and Jasper, who have been arguing about which of them is bigger. However, with everything they’ve achieved in NXT and TNA, he and Arianna are the biggest couple.
¡Shiloh Hill bursts onto the scene!
Hill approaches Channing to “apologize” for ruining his Christmas two weeks ago when he defeated him in a Christmas Chaos match. However, that victory led Ava to have a conversation with Santino Marella. And both agreed that next week Lorenzo will defend the TNA International Championship against Hill.
¡Tavion Heights appears!
Tavion says these kinds of gatherings are exactly what he likes. Heights liked Shiloh’s promo, though he felt it was missing something: a little bit of himself. But that’s something he’s about to fix. Tavion enters the ring to address Troy, promising that next week he’ll make him fly to take the WWE Speed Championship. Fed up, Page puts an end to the conversation. Ethan mocks Heights for threatening Troy when everyone knows that the last time he had a title opportunity, he failed. Page laughs. Heights throws a right hand, but “All Ego” ducks, causing Troy to take the blow. Briggs shoves Tavion, who then strikes Jasper. Furious, Troy shoves Heights, who ends up on the mat. Hill and Briggs prevent Ethan from leaving the ring. Josh tries to execute a big boot. Page avoids it, once again causing Troy to take the impact. Heights applies a clothesline on Jasper and both tumble out of the ring over the top rope. Meanwhile, Shiloh disposes of Lorenzo and Briggs. Arianna tries to slap Hill, but he blocks the strike. Shiloh decides to defuse the situation with some dance moves, pleasantly surprising Grace. Suddenly, his mouthguard lands on “Miss NXT,” who flees disgusted to ringside. At that moment, “Stacks” tries to surprise Shiloh, but Hill moves out of the way, sending the TNA champion to ringside. Arianna continues screaming while compulsively wiping her hands on her boyfriend’s shirt. Shiloh celebrates in the ring as the segment comes to an end.
We see Joe Hendry talking with OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) backstage. The Scot manages to convince them to join his cause next week, pointing out that it could bring them closer to an opportunity at the NXT Tag Team Championships. The idea appeals to Nima and Price, who accept Hendry’s offer.
Meanwhile, ZaRuca (Zaria and Sol Ruca) run into Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid). The heels mock NXT’s Team of the Year, especially Ruca, who won two awards… yet has zero championships around her waist. “Jacy, you’re not a double champion, and this year I’m coming for you and that title”, says Sol as she points to the NXT Women’s Championship. “I thought you were a team… interesting,” Jayne replies to provoke ZaRuca before leaving with her partners. “They’re just jealous,” Zaria tells Sol.
An annoyed Ethan Page walks backstage and runs into Myles Borne talking with Tate Wilder. “All Ego” approaches Borne. “Where the hell were you?!” he shouts. Myles responds that what happened in the ring was none of his business. Borne tries to continue his conversation with the Evolve talent, but Page won’t allow it. “Don’t turn your back on me when I’m talking to you!” he yells. Tate tries to defend Myles, but Ethan shuts him down. “I know who you are, Tate Wilder! You might be doing a great job in Evolve, but this is NXT. I can guess what brought you here, but you’re not part of this place yet. So shut up and learn a thing or two, unlike my good friend Myles, who is in NXT but refuses to listen to a word of my advice. But I’m not going to listen to you tonight, Myles. It wasn’t your business. Because it was business for champions and challengers! And you clearly are neither of those things.” “Can you hear me now, Myles?” he asks before walking away. Tate advises Borne not to let Page get to him. “Too late,” says Myles before leaving.

Femi throws several punches at Slater. Leon responds with several chops, only to receive a much more powerful one. The sound of the impact echoes throughout the arena.
Slater surprises Oba with a kick before going for a handspring back elbow. Femi stops him mid-motion and responds with a spinning backbreaker. “The Ruler” throws his opponent into one of the corners. After crashing into it, the TNA talent ends up at ringside. Oba follows him outside to continue the assault.
Femi delivers a body drop to Slater on the apron before bringing him back into the ring, where he knocks him down with a clothesline. Oba executes a backbreaker on Leon. Slater tries to fight back, only for Oba to violently throw him into one of the corners. Femi kicks the challenger before trapping him in a grounded headlock.
Leon breaks free and answers with a facebreaker. Slater follows up with a pair of scissors, sending his opponent to ringside. Femi responds with a chop when Leon tries to strike him from the apron. The Nigerian delivers several knee strikes against his rival near one of the posts. Leon dodges one knee, causing Oba to crash into the steel and injure his knee in the process.

Femi retreats to the apron, where he eats an enzuigiri from Leon. Oba falls to ringside. ¡Slater dives onto him with a tope over the corner! Leon brings him back into the ring and goes for a Swanton 450, but Oba gets his knees up. 1..2..NO. Leon reverses the pin into a Crucifix Pin. 1...2...NO. Slater tries to keep the offense going, but Oba stops him with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. 1..2..3.
Winner and STILL NXT Champion: Oba Femi
Oba poses with the NXT Championship as the segment comes to an end.
We head to Ava’s office, where she is meeting with the Evolve roster. Ava reminds them that several NXT talents have been called up to the main roster, so she’ll need to reinforce the developmental brand with new names. Suddenly, Robert Stone bursts into the office. “Did you see what Oba just did?” he asks with visible concern. Ava replies that she hasn’t.
We return to the ring, where the NXT Championship is lying on the mat. Oba Femi is nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, in the crowd, Tony D’Angelo keeps his eyes fixed on the title. And with that, NXT New Year’s Evil 2026 comes to an end.
