Matt Cardona was one of the big surprises of the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. The former Intercontinental champion reappeared on the blue brand show, this time as a new member of the roster, to defeat Kit Wilson and confirm his return to the company after five years competing in the independent scene.

During this period, Cardona managed to reinvent himself, gaining great popularity in the indies, where he won nearly thirty championships. His work for TNA Wrestling did not affect his commitments outside the company, as they usually do not restrict their talents in that regard. Something that has drastically changed with his return to WWE.

So much so that Cardona has been forced to cancel all his appearances, and there were quite a few. Of course, many fans have criticized the wrestler for not fulfilling his promises. This issue was addressed by Cardona in a recent interview with Sam Roberts on NotSam Wrestling.

"There have been a couple of haters on the internet, and I understand it perfectly. I had dates scheduled until the summer. If I accepted all the independent dates I committed to, I couldn't be in WWE. It's as simple as that. It's not that I had one or two, I'm literally booked every weekend until the summer. It makes no sense. Any promoter who gave me a deposit has already been refunded. Everyone understood it," Cardona said.

Currently, Cardona still holds two championships from independent promotions, which he will most likely have to vacate, as he did last weekend with the WSW World Heavyweight Title and the ACW Heavyweight Championship. A price that any talent must pay if they want to fulfill their dream of becoming a WWE superstar.
