Rumors about a possible departure of Chris Jericho from All Elite Wrestling and a potential return to WWE have been circulating for months, especially after his name was strongly linked to Raw on January 5, 2026. Ultimately, that return did not happen, and now one of the most authoritative voices in AEW has given his perspective on the veteran's future.

During the latest edition of his podcast Grilling JR, Jim Ross analyzed Jericho's situation and made it clear that, if he decides to leave AEW, the impact would be real. For Ross, the Canadian's options are very defined and do not include too many intermediate alternatives.

I think it's WWE or staying where he is. Chris is comfortable, has a lot of influence in AEW, and never arrives without a plan. If he leaves, it would be a blow to the brand. You can't lose someone like Jericho and act like nothing happened.

Ross also wanted to highlight the work Jericho does behind the scenes. Beyond his on-screen appearances, he believes that Jericho is a key figure internally, helping other talents, contributing creative ideas, and serving as support for younger wrestlers.

Chris Jericho doesn't come empty-handed, he always has a plan. But I think his goal, if he's leaving AEW, is to secure a big deal. I get the impression he has a big deal, so I think it's either WWE or staying where he is. I don't think TNA has anything to do with it, but I could be wrong. Money changes many opinions and feelings. I hope he doesn't leave.

According to the commentator, Tony Khan needs profiles like Jericho's within the company, not only for his name but for everything he brings on a daily basis. That's why, although he acknowledges that Jericho has options and decision-making power, he hopes he ultimately remains tied to AEW.

In the same vein, it has recently been noted that, unlike other cases, there has been no internal memo in AEW indicating an imminent departure of Jericho. His last appearance in the ring was at AEW Dynasty 2025, where he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido.
