Mark Briscoe retained the TNT Championship after defeating Hechicero in one of the most outstanding matches of the latest episode of AEW Collision, which aired live last night at the Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, Texas. The Mexican didn't make it easy for "Chicken", focusing his offense on one of the champion's arms. However, Briscoe was able to recover and keep the title around his waist.

Match Development

Hechicero took the fight to the mat right from the start in an attempt to submit the champion with one of his many submission holds. However, Briscoe managed to escape from all of them. Hechicero surprised Mark with El Conjuro to take the lead, but his opponent quickly reacted, taking the action to ringside where he unleashed a flurry of chops before executing an apron Blockbuster.

Briscoe once again launched himself at the Mexican, but this time he was ready to trap him in a painful submission hold. After that, Hechicero focused on punishing the champion's right arm, using one of the ring posts as an improvised weapon. The masked wrestler brought Briscoe back into the ring to continue damaging the champion.

Mark tried to recover, but Hechicero wouldn't allow it. Briscoe was caught in a painful armbar, having to reach the ropes to break free. The Mexican didn't give up and kept applying submission holds, even at ringside. Briscoe escaped from one of them by falling backwards against the entrance ramp, allowing him to turn the situation around.

Briscoe brought his opponent back into the ring to launch a counterattack, but Hechicero surprised him with a Guillotine Scissors for a nearfall. The match then moved to the top of one of the corners, where Mark was able to block a Kimura Lock to make his opponent fall, whom he finished off with a Froggy Bow. However, before he could cover the Mexican, he surprised him with a Crucifix Pin for another nearfall.

Hechicero then tried to catch Mark off guard with a running knee strike, but the champion dodged it, causing the masked wrestler to hit the ropes and fall to the mat. At that moment, Briscoe caught him to execute a definitive J-Driller. After the match, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong entered the ring to celebrate with the champion.

Thus, Mark Briscoe adds his second title defense in his first reign as TNT Champion. A title he won 50 days ago after defeating Kyle Fletcher in a no disqualification match at AEW Full Gear 2025. As a curious fact, last night was the first singles match between Briscoe and Hechicero in their respective careers. Previously, they had faced each other in four tag team matches, all of which ended in victory for the wrestler from Maryland.
