Mercedes Moné will take a break from All Elite Wrestling's television programming, as announced in the most recent episode of AEW Collision, broadcast live last night at the Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, Texas. "The CEO" starred in a promotional video where she revealed her immediate plans after a few forgettable weeks.
Sitting in front of a mirror, Moné screamed in anger and frustration. Still stained with the cake she landed on in the last episode of AEW Dynamite, "The CEO" addressed Willow Nightingale, pointing out that she is just playing at being the heroine. "Heroines don't build divisions. Icons do!", she exclaimed. Moné recalled that she had held the TBS Championship for over 500 days, not because of luck, but because she is undeniable.
"I was the best! I was the best wrestler of the year according to PWI. Number one according to Pro Wrestling Illustrated. And no matter what year it is, I will always be the best!", she said. Moné lamented that she has been disrespected since the day she arrived at AEW. "I'm tired and fed up with these lack of respect. To teach you a lesson, bitches, I will take a break from AEW, to show you why and how I rise. And good luck without me, because when I come back, I'm going to collect more than just titles," she said as she laughed to end her promo.
Moné's decision comes at the lowest point of her time in All Elite Wrestling. In just one month, "The CEO" has lost four of the thirteen championships she once held simultaneously, including the TBS title, the most important of all and the one that started her path to becoming a "belt collector".
In fact, Mercedes' departure could be related to her venture in the independent scene. Moné still holds championships from half a dozen promotions around the world, so it is possible that the wrestler will use this time to lose each and every one of them in their respective companies before returning to AEW's television programming with a new goal: the Women's World Championship.
