Will Ospreay had to leave the wrestling ring in September of last year to deal with a neck injury he had been struggling with for some time. The British wrestler underwent surgery that same month as the first step in a recovery process that would take quite some time. Well, it seems that his return to action is not too far away.

According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select, Ospreay is scheduled to undergo a medical evaluation with a view to a possible return. This will take place this afternoon backstage at AEW Dynamite, a show that will take place in a few hours in Orlando, Florida.

It seems unlikely that the wrestler will be cleared medically at such an early stage of his recovery, but the mere fact that the medical team wants to see him could be an indication that his return to action will not be delayed for a year, as the most pessimistic forecasts suggested. In fact, according to Sapp's report, AEW hopes to have the wrestler back by spring.

Will Ospreay revealed his neck problem shortly after All In Texas, also confessing that he had been dealing with issues for almost a year and had even lost feeling in one of his arms. According to some reports, Ospreay was dealing with two herniated discs. A problem that, while not preventing him from competing, did cause him pain and could worsen over time with continued action.

Despite everything, the wrestler insisted on participating in AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, an event held in his home country. At that time, doctors assured him that his injury could not worsen before the PPV, so he was allowed to participate in the event. Thus, the wrestler fulfilled his wish, competing in a Lights Out Steel Cage Match in the main event of the show. After the match, Ospreay was brutally attacked by Death Riders and subsequently taken out on a stretcher. An excuse to justify his absence from the company's television programming.
