Today we will once again enjoy a new live coverage of WWE SmackDown, which this time will be broadcast live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This will be the last weekly show of the blue brand before Saturday Night's Main Event, and it will feature some of the protagonists of that event.
Highlighting a triple threat match for an opportunity for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships and a match for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Additionally, AJ Styles will make a special appearance before putting his career on the line at the Royal Rumble. As always, we invite you to comment on the post to give your opinion on what happens on this week's SmackDown show.
WWE SmackDown starts on Netflix!
We see the arrival of some of tonight's protagonists at the venue: Cody Rhodes, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Giulia, Kiana James, MFT in full, and Drew McIntyre.
Sami Zayn is the one to open the show. The fans welcome him with a great ovation. Sami heads to the ring with a big smile on his face. The audience hums his song even after his entrance has ended. "Sami, Sami!" they chant before he can speak. "Hello, hello, hello, hello!" they continue. Zayn simply listens and enjoys the welcome from his fellow countrymen. Sami welcomes them in French. "Damn, it feels good to be home!" he exclaims. Zayn points out that tonight he is in charge of opening the show, while tomorrow he will be part of the main event of Saturday Night's Main Event. Right now he is experiencing great momentum and will use it to get the victory tomorrow and become the next challenger for the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Trick Williams interrupts the segment!
Trick makes it clear that Sami is not at his level, neither in appearance nor as a wrestler. "Do you know what your problem is, Sami Zayn? You don't know how to do the job. And that reminds me of the last time you had a shot at the WWE Championship right here, in your own city, Montreal. You couldn't finish the job," he says. However, he is here to become a world champion. Sami takes the floor to admit that Trick is right about some things. It is true that he couldn't finish the job, but that is already in the past. He also acknowledges that Williams has everything to succeed. But there is something he is wrong about: Trick is not at his level. With hard work maybe, in 10 or 15 years, if lucky, he could be half as good as he is. "And if you think I'm wrong, you can do something about it right now," says Zayn. "No," Trick replies. He points out that he has other things to think about, so they can solve this problem tomorrow in the ring.
Damian Priest makes his entrance!
Damian enters the ring to remind Williams that last week he called him "the guy who talks too much." He's been on SmackDown for a month talking to everyone. However, he hasn't said anything to him. "Last week I stood in your face and you didn't say anything to me. So I have a theory. I think you're afraid of me. I think you think that if you say something inappropriate to me, I'll knock you out on the spot. Are you afraid, Trick? Are you afraid?," asks the Puerto Rican. "You're not going to say anything? You can always do something about it." Williams silences the audience before addressing Priest. "Damian, do you think I'm afraid? Do you think I don't know what to say, Damian? Do you think I'm afraid to explode, Damian? Look at this," Trick responds before hitting Sami on the head with the microphone, causing him to collapse on the canvas.
Williams throws a punch at Damian, but he blocks it. The Puerto Rican quickly responds, taking Trick to one of the corners. Furious, Zayn pushes Damian away from Williams to kick him. Now it's Priest who pushes Sami aside to personally deal with the former NXT champion. Zayn and Priest argue, a moment that Trick takes advantage of to hit the Puerto Rican from behind. He collides with Sami, allowing Trick to escape the ring. Williams retreats up the entrance ramp while Zayn and Priest restart their discussion.
Randy Orton watches the scene on a screen backstage. Cathy Kelley approaches him to interview him. Cathy asks if watching his rivals without getting involved in their fights is part of his strategy for tomorrow's match. Respectfully, Orton doesn't understand what kind of question that is. 2026 is the year of the Viper, and he intends to win his fifteenth world championship. And his journey doesn't start tonight, but tomorrow at Saturday Night's Main Event when he beats Sami Zayn and Damian Priest and kicks Trick Williams' butt. After that, he'll take a plane that will take him to Saudi Arabia, where he will face Drew McIntyre for the WWE Undisputed Championship. A title he will take with the help of the three most dangerous letters in the business: R-K-O.
We see a pre-recorded video. In it, Carmelo Hayes approaches Ilja Dragunov to ask him how he is doing. We see Ilja with a black eye. Hayes saw his match last week against Sami Zayn and should be proud of his great performance. The Russian thanks him for that. Carmelo reminds him that his invitation to compete for the United States Championship is still open, so he would like him to be the one to respond to tonight's open challenge. Ilja reminds him that he is bruised and sore after his defeat last week. "Do you think I'm stupid enough to compete in my state in the open challenge for the United States Championship?" asks the Russian. Carmelo tries to apologize when a smiling Dragunov places his hands on the champion's shoulders. "You know me very well. I'll see you in the ring," says Ilja before leaving. The Miz approaches Melo to criticize the attitude of the wrestlers of the current generation. And it's that he feels that there is no longer hatred between rivals. "Like I hate you?" Melo replies. The Miz wants to give him advice to make his championship prestigious: not to give away title opportunities. "What has Ilja given you?" he asks. "He gave me more opportunities than you ever gave me," Hayes replies before leaving.

The champion takes the Russian back to the ring, where he prepares for his finisher. Dragunov prevents him from executing a Death Valley Driver to respond with a springboard clothesline. 1..2..3.
Winner and STILL United States Champion: Carmelo Hayes
Hayes watches the replay of the end of the match on the venue screen. Furious and frustrated in equal parts, Melo threatens to leave the ring to go after The Miz, but he quickly escapes the place.
Michael Cole interviewed Cody Rhodes before the show. Cole asked him how he felt after losing the WWE Undisputed Championship. Cody didn't want to talk about that, but about how he will regain the title. A journey that will begin at the Royal Rumble when he wins the men's Royal Rumble match for the third time. Cole reminded him that tomorrow he will face the man who cost him the championship, Jacob Fatu. That's why he asked him how he felt about it. Rhodes replied that Cole should already know the answer.
Suddenly, Fatu burst onto the scene. Nick Aldis and several security members were unable to stop him. Cody invited the Samoan to sit in front of him. Cole left his chair for Jacob to take. Fatu wanted to make it clear to Cody that his problem is Drew McIntyre, the man who broke his teeth. He was obsessed with finishing off the Scotsman and didn't care how Rhodes felt about it. That's when he wanted to be the hero and put his hands on him. Jacob was completely gone, and he reacted as such, without even thinking about it. Cody was convinced that Fatu was thinking. "I'll tell you something that others don't have the balls to tell you: you were acting without thinking. You were acting, and that's what got you in jail in the first place," said Rhodes. Jacob stood up to remind that those were hard days for him and his family. In fact, they almost fired him before he could even get to WWE. But he doesn't complain about it, as he faces the consequences of all his decisions. And these decisions have brought him to Cody Rhodes. "You're standing in front of me right now, but I'm not the WWE Champion. And it's your fault," said Cody pointing out that his match tomorrow should have had the championship at stake. Jacob pointed out that McIntyre was practically out of the cage when he arrived. Cody insisted that the Saturday Night's Main Event match could have been for the title, but that's something the Samoan can't understand because he has never fought for a world championship. Fatu made it clear that he is not like any Samoan he has faced before. "Does everyone think I'm an uncontrolled element? That I'm crazy? That I'm out of control? No, brother. Believe me. I'm in full control. So think about it," said the Samoan before leaving.
Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre approach Jordynne Grace backstage. Chelsea wants to make it clear that she sees her as a future star. That's why she wants to give her the right platform to shine: a spot in The Secret Hervice. They can start at the Royal Rumble and then work together to become WWE Tag Team Champions. In fact, why not start tonight? Green will face Jade Cargill one-on-one, and Grace could be in her corner. Jordynne is interested as soon as she hears Cargill's name, so she doesn't hesitate to accept the Canadian's offer. She and Fyre head to the ring, followed by "The Juggernaut".
WWE confirms that Roman Reigns will participate in the men's Royal Rumble match.
Jade Cargill vs. Chelsea Green (with Alba Fyre and Jordynne Grace)
Cargill stops in front of Jordynne, a moment Chelsea takes advantage of to launch a suicide dive. Green takes her opponent inside the ring, where the match begins. Jade quickly recovers to unleash a rain of attacks on the Canadian. Cargill violently throws her against one of the corners before mocking her with several push-ups.
Cargill applies a Fallaway Slam on Chelsea. Jade repeats the move to earn the boos from the fans. Green ends up at ringside. Cargill goes after her to bring her back. Jade confronts Jordynne again, turning her back on Chelsea, who surprises the WWE Women's Champion with a diving dropkick. Green dodges a pump kick to cover Jade with the help of the ropes. 1...2...NO.
Cargill knocks out Green with a superkick. Jade prepares to finish her off when Alba climbs onto the apron to distract her. Cargill runs towards her to execute a pump kick. The Scotsman falls to ringside. The WWE Women's Champion returns to Chelsea, whom she finishes off with a Jaded. 1..2..3.
Winner: Jade Cargill
Jordynne Grace takes a microphone to inform Cargill that she will participate in the women's Royal Rumble match, where she will earn a title shot. "When I win it, I'll see you on the other side. Or, since you've warmed up, we can do this right now," says "The Juggernaut" before confronting Cargill. She smiles, blows her a kiss, and leaves the ring. "I'll do this my way. Who are you? You're nobody," says the champion to Jordynne as she walks away up the entrance ramp.
Charlotte Flair approaches Alexa Bliss backstage. Flair notices that her partner is somewhat distant. Bliss points out that she can focus on both her title interests and the team. Charlotte just wants to make sure that both arrive at the Royal Rumble in the best possible condition. Alexa believes it will be difficult to surpass last week's battle royal. Flair agrees with Alexa. Tonight it's time to focus on the team. Both women leave to end the segment.
We see MFT in full walking backstage. Solo Sikoa carries Bray Wyatt's lantern. Solo points out that his men want gold, and tonight they will get it. Sikoa announces that he and Tama Tonga will compete against The Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Championships. And when they regain the belts, he will personally do the same with the WWE Undisputed Championship. "And as long as I have this, there's nothing you (referring to Bo Dallas) or he (referring to his brother) can do about it," Sikoa says. Sikoa turns off the lantern to end the promo.
The Wyatt Sicks make their entrance, followed by MFT. The two factions face off in the center of the ring before the match begins.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis) (c) (with Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan and Nikki Cross) vs. MFT (Tama Tonga and Solo Sikoa) (with Talla Tonga, Tonga Loa and JC Mateo)
Tama and Joe start the fight. Tonga takes Gacy down before tagging in Sikoa. He repeats his partner’s move to tag back out. Dexter and Gacy combine perfectly against Tama. Lumis knocks Tama down with a dropkick before applying a Monkey Flip. Solo intervenes, only to be thrown out of the ring along with his partner. The champions launch themselves onto their rivals at ringside.
Lumis brings Tama back into the ring. Tama distracts the referee so Solo can catch Dexter by surprise with an enzuigiri straight to the back of the neck. Tama regains control with a clothesline. Sikoa receives the tag to continue punishing Lumis. The referee has to intervene, a moment Loa takes advantage of to illegally strike Dexter. Solo traps his rival before turning his attention to Uncle Howdy. The MFT leader makes it clear that the tag team championships belong to them.
Tama crushes Lumis in one of the corners before tagging Sikoa, who repeats his partner’s move. “Do you see this?” he asks Howdy before executing a Running Hip Attack on Dexter. Solo gets ready to repeat the move. This time, Lumis avoids it and responds with a side suplex. Both men are left laid out on the mat. Sikoa and Dexter crawl toward their respective corners to tag their partners.
Joe comes in full force, taking on both rivals at the same time. Gacy drops Tama with an Upside Down. The Wyatts hit their combined finisher on Tonga. 1..2..NO. Solo breaks up the count. Gacy throws Sikoa out of the ring before setting up for a suicide dive. However, Solo stops him with a punch and then throws him into the barricade. Dexter dives onto Solo before returning to the ring.
Dexter disposes of JC Mateo before diving onto Tama with a diving body press. 1..2..NO. Fed up with the constant interference, Rowan takes out Mateo and Tonga Loa at ringside. At that moment, Talla Tonga appears on the entrance ramp holding Bray Wyatt’s lantern. Erick is distracted, which Mateo and Loa take advantage of to attack him from behind.
Rowan turns back to face JC and Loa, leaving him defenseless against a big boot from Talla. He throws Rowan over the barricade. Howdy surprises Talla with a Mandible Claw, which Sikoa capitalizes on by knocking out the leader of The Wyatt Sicks with a Samoan Spike. Meanwhile, Tama punishes Dexter using the ropes. The referee pulls him away. Solo takes advantage of the moment to strike Lumis with the lantern. Tama finishes him off with a Cut Throat. 1...2...3.
Winners and NEW WWE Tag Team Champions: Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga
MFT celebrate on the entrance ramp while The Wyatt Sicks recover in the center of the ring.
Nick Aldis is on the phone when R-Truth suddenly appears. R-Truth knows the General Manager is thinking about Royal Rumble, so he wants to give him his balls. R-Truth places two balls into Aldis’ hands. AJ Styles appears, apologizing if he’s interrupting anything. Aldis assures him he’s arrived at the perfect moment. He then suggests to R-Truth that they leave this conversation for later. R-Truth places his hands over the balls he gave Nick. “Tonight I’ll sleep very well knowing my balls are in good hands,” says R-Truth before leaving.
Aldis sets the balls aside to address AJ Styles, thanking him for accepting his invitation. The General Manager saw what happened on Raw this past Monday and wants to ask if he’s completely sure about risking his career at Royal Rumble. AJ Styles says yes. Gunther retired John Cena, and that’s fine—it’s part of the business. But Cena left like a man, and the Austrian hasn’t stopped disrespecting him. And if Gunther thinks he gets to decide when AJ’s time in WWE is over, he’s very mistaken. He then asks Nick if he brought him to Montreal just to say this. First, Aldis says he respects AJ Styles’ decision. As for the question, the answer is no—he didn’t bring him just to talk. Aldis points to the side. AJ Styles turns around to find Shinsuke Nakamura. He knows AJ Styles very well and understands how smart he is, so he doesn’t get why he’s putting his career on the line. AJ insists he’s doing the right thing and that turning down Gunther’s challenge would’ve been a defeat for him. “Fine. Before you step into the ring with him, prove you’re still Phenomenal. Tomorrow night. Saturday Night’s Main Event. You versus me”, says the Japanese star. AJ Styles asks Aldis if there’s any room left on the card. Nick replies that there’s always room for Styles vs. Nakamura. Both men shake hands in a show of respect as the segment comes to an end.

Winner: Nathan Frazer
Axiom and Frazer approach Gargano, allowing Candice to snatch the mask back from Axiom and jump the barricade to escape. Meanwhile, Johnny walks up the entrance ramp.
Nia Jax and Lash Legend are interviewed backstage. Nia promises they’ll win a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships tonight. And next week, they’ll eliminate every participant in the Royal Rumble as a team—because unlike Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, they won’t betray each other. Lash agrees. Together they’ll eliminate all their opponents until one of them earns a title opportunity at WrestleMania 42. With that, Nia and Legend walk off, ending the interview.
Drew McIntyre makes his entrance. The Scotsman heads to the ring, posing with the Undisputed WWE Championship. “Bonjour, Montreal,” Drew says before beginning his promo. McIntyre reminds everyone that the hometown team hasn’t won the Stanley Cup in 30 years—but that’s okay, because now they have a WWE Champion they can be proud of. Drew looks into the camera to make it clear to Jacob Fatu that he didn’t break his teeth. He then reminds Cody Rhodes that even if he survives his match against the Samoan, he’ll have to go to the back of the line, because he won’t get another title shot while Drew is champion. And yes, he could still earn it by winning Royal Rumble for the third time. “Good luck with that,” he says, laughing.
McIntyre then runs through the list of competitors who will face off tomorrow in a fatal four-way for a title opportunity at Royal Rumble: “Trick Williams, the rookie. Go get ’em, kid!” Damian Priest, the man who cost him an entire year. “Priest, if I see you in the Rumble, I’ll end your career”. Randy Orton, who isn’t the same anymore. “Now he’s civilized. And he can’t finish the job when it matters”. And Sami Zayn. The crowd begins chanting the Canadian’s name. McIntyre addresses him directly, saying he’ll keep disappointing his son—but that’s nothing new. “Sami, I want you to know your son has been disappointed for a very long time. In fact, he’s been disappointed since the exact moment he opened his eyes and realized Sami Zayn was his father”. “I don’t care who wins the fatal four-way. Because I’ll do whatever—and I mean whatever—it takes to retain the WWE Championship. The message is simple. To whoever faces Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble: good luck, because you’re going to need it.” The Scotsman drops the microphone on the mat and leaves.
Trick Williams runs into Rey Fenix backstage. Trick doesn’t let the masked man speak, saying he already knows he wants to thank him for making him famous two weeks ago. Fenix just wants him to know he hasn’t forgotten what Trick did when they faced each other one-on-one. Trick promises that tomorrow he’ll win at Saturday Night’s Main Event, sending him straight to the Undisputed WWE Championship. And then Rey can get a shot at the gold… as long as he still remembers his name. Williams walks off. “You’re going to remember me,” Rey says as the segment ends.
Cathy Kelley interviews Kit Wilson backstage. Cathy asks why he attacked Matt Cardona last week. The Brit replies that someone had to step up as the hero. “Someone has to put an end to toxic masculinity in this rotten locker room”, he says. Matt interrupts. “What’s your problem with me?” Cardona asks. Wilson replies: his perfectly groomed beard, his sculpted jawline, his broad shoulders… Matt is confused, since those sound like compliments. “And you should think that. You should. But wake up, Matt! That’s the problem. Men like you take no responsibility! Men like you expect the world to revolve around you! Men like you have toxic masculinity!” Cardona cuts him off, suggesting they settle their issues in the ring, then walks away. “Typical. Responsibility shows up, and he chooses violence. Men, right? Toxic,” Kit tells Cathy as the segment ends.

Winners: Kiana James and Giulia
Sami Zayn approaches Damian Priest to assure him he has nothing against him—his issue is with Trick Williams. Damian cuts him off, advising him to get any ideas he has for tonight out of his head. The Puerto Rican knows Sami has a habit of interfering in other people’s matches, so he orders him not to show up during his match with Williams. “Or what?” Zayn asks. “You know exactly what will happen,” Priest replies. Sami makes it clear that Damian can’t give him orders—not tonight, not ever. They square up, but something catches Sami’s attention. “We’ll see,” Zayn says. Priest heads toward the ring as Sami walks the opposite way. Sami stops in front of Drew McIntyre. They stare each other down. Without a word, Zayn slaps the Scotsman, then walks off. A furious McIntyre glares after him.
Cody Rhodes approaches AJ Styles in the arena parking lot. “Don’t tell me you’ve got questions about my match,” says “The Phenomenal One.” Rhodes replies that he doesn’t. In fact, he understands and respects AJ’s position—he just wanted to wish him luck against Gunther. They shake hands. AJ thanks him and walks away. Cody heads toward his bus, but stops short. Someone has placed a photo of Drew McIntyre holding the Undisputed WWE Championship on one of the windows. Rhodes sighs before entering the vehicle.
Cathy Kelley interviews Giulia and Kiana James backstage. Kelley congratulates them on tonight’s victory, noting that “The Beautiful Madness” now has a chance to become a double champion. Giulia responds in Japanese. Kiana explains that everything is going according to plan. They intend to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, and after Giulia wins the women’s Royal Rumble, she’ll be on the path to her third championship. “Our plan is clear. This is only the beginning”, James says before leaving with her partner.

Williams then surprises Priest with a Trick Shot. Trick celebrates on the mat as the show appears to end… or does it? The fans go wild as Randy Orton appears behind Trick. Williams turns around—RKO! Now Randy celebrates. A recovered Sami approaches him and they exchange words. Orton walks away—only to hit another RKO! With all his rivals laid out, “The Viper” poses on the turnbuckle to close out this week’s show.
