Ricochet compares his time in WWE to the void created by Thanos' snap

Ricochet is living one of the best stages of his professional career in All Elite Wrestling, where he has become one of the most hated heels in the company. His change in attitude has not only resonated with fans, but has also revitalized his character, very different from the one he portrayed during his time in WWE. In fact, the wrestler has been very critical of his time in the Endeavor-owned company, leading to controversies due to his controversial opinions on social media.

The latest controversy arose after he commented on a video showing one of his matches against AJ Styles in WWE. "That's not me. It was a diluted and different version of myself, from another universe. Two completely different people", he wrote. This comment was further explained during a recent appearance on The Mark Hoke Show with a curious analogy to Thanos' famous snap in the MCU.

"The Ricochet I am now is the same Ricochet I was on the independent circuit and in New Japan, doing the things that made me popular and brought me to where I am today. When I was part of NXT, I was doing specific things. There was an image that was posted: it was Johnny, Tommaso, Aleister, and me. The four of us, 'Heading to Raw'.

What was supposed to be the biggest promotion of our industry turned out to be, specifically for Ricochet's story at that time, like Thanos' snap and there was a five-year gap. That's how I describe Ricochet's wrestling career. Those five years were like being erased and sent to a different universe. It just wasn't me.

Returning to AEW and rediscovering that love was like when Tony Stark finally defeated Thanos and everyone came back. Ricochet finally returned to doing what he does. I know how this is going to sound and how people will take it, but the day we were called to go to Raw was the worst thing that happened to Ricochet's wrestling career.

Despite meeting my wife there, making friends, creating memories, having an incredible platform, all the positive things, specifically for Ricochet's wrestling career, that's where it got erased. What I was doing and the path I was on, compared to the path I had during those five years, and how that completely changed the public image of Ricochet and who Ricochet was. I truly believe that those five years, specifically in the wrestling aspect, seriously damaged Ricochet's legacy as a wrestler," he said.
